The Butcher Shop Location:Converted Cargo Bay Anton had been busy. He had no time to relive the battle even though working with Tyler had been a painful experience. Though, his primary expertise was science Anton had excelled in command school. He watched Tyle battle tactics and they were easily described as 'marine'. A blunt force instrument. He pounded the ships trying to get as many 'confirmed kills' as he could. Anton new the mission and surgically herded the lamn to slaughter while allowing the Admrial to get her samples. He didn't like the idea of Anya working the mission on her own so to speak but he collected samples as ordered.
The area was a converted cargobay. Anton had assessed there was no play in the science area that would allow them to work. The dead bodies hung unceremoneously listing to the side opposite their hook. The floor were stained with several different colors of blood that it resembled a Jackson Pollak painting. Because this was such a massive collection of samples Anton had run out of medical and science personnel. They had begun some of Mindwinter's marines. She chose the ones best with blades for the task. Anton tested them finding the ones capable of the work. It wasn't just about the ability to cut or drain blood. It was also handling the smell. The stench was papable. The combination of slowly decomposing bodies, and drying blood of various types.
He walked by the dead bodeis which had containers to catch the blood for genetic samples. He also had the medical staff extracting from bone tissue. He watched Admiral Rothschild pace around anxiously. He watched a nurse do an extraction. He stormed across the room slapping her so hard it drew blood. She was rubbing her mouth staring at him incredulously. "If you do not take that deep enough into the bone that sample will be worthless." Anton said calmly but firmly. "If this assignment is too difficult let me know, I'll have you replaced."
"It's not too difficult, Colonel." She said picking herself up. "I'll make sure I get it deeper."
"Thats all I ask. "He said in a warm voice as if nothing had just happened. He had on a white jacket but it had long been dulled. He hadn't slept in several days, but he made sure the personnel did. They had begun calling the cargo bay; 'The Butcher Shop'. He had heard that they were calling him 'Bill the butcher' , but Anton didn't get the reference. He had left the Marine contingent to Mindwinter's management, but it was time for a report. She stood their like a sentinal unmoving as he approached. He was sure that, other than a break or two to regenerate, She had been at the same spot for 3 days. There was something admrable about conssistency. "Major," He said as he walked over to her. "What progress have your Marines made."

She observed the nurse extracting a sample…Monica knew it was being done wrong and she merely grunted under her breath. She looked around to her marines and gave them the look to don't mind the colonel and what he did and tend to their work. A simple look from her was enough for her men to understand what she asked of them. Then the NEW colonel turned his attention towards her, “Major, what progress have your Marines made.” "You know what I like about the LATE Colonel?" She paused a bit but didn’t look at him. “He would have killed the nurse and replaced her anyway…and he wouldn’t bother in asking me with the progress of my men”. She knew she was untouchable as long as she remained useful to the Admiral. “My men are doing what is asked of me and they will continue to do it admirably”. She removed the clothing of the LIVE male Vorta that she was working on...then picks up a medical lazer blade and made an incision. Ones she had reached the bone...Monica stabs the instrument deep in to the bone of a living Vorta. “If they don’t scream that’s how you know when your not doing it right”. Monica continued to work as if to dismiss the Colonel but at the same time waiting to see if he had anymore 'irrelevant' data to add. Location: USS Legacy, Cargo bay. Location: Converted Cargo Bay
The Major was watching her men work on the bodies alive and dead with an eye for every detail. "You know what I like about the LATE Colonel?" She said bluntly without taking her eye off her objective “He would have killed the nurse and replaced her anyway…and he wouldn’t bother in asking me with the progress of my men”. She still continued to look forward. “My men are doing what is asked of me and they will continue to do it admirably”. He watched her make her way to a live vorta. It wasn't something he really wanted Marines doing, but he decided to watch the action to see what skills she possessed. He watched her make a clean enough incision. He could have done it better but it was on the level of a decent first year medic. She pushed the extracter into the bone. She looked quite proud as the vorta shreiked in pain. “If they don’t scream that’s how you know when your not doing it right”.
Anton was sure that this was her way of dismissing him, but he was never one to leave a party until he was good and ready. He watched her work a little longer. He knew she considered herself the Admiral's 'pet'. The thing about pets is that they have linear thinking. Tney also overestimated their usefulness. "I suppose you would have admired the late Colonel," Anton finally spoke. "A drunk who did his job about as well as he stayed sober would appeal to you. It would mean that you would be able to operate with impunity." He said as if he were making an observation. "On the other hand, I'm 'here' because he was subpar. Your observation is correct, he would have killed her. I know that we are sitting in the middle of the gamma quadrant with no ready supply of replacement officers. I have killed the Chief Medical officer who trained her. That is what we like to call a 'Command decision.'. Now we have you." He said taking a cleansing breath. "I won't bore you with the details of what must be done after your extractions, but let's just say its time consuming. So when I ask your progress I expect a proper report as to what has been extracted, how much as been extracted, and how many you have left. This operation is mine, and until its over so are you Marine. So by all means have your fun, but undstand these are just 'test tubes' for me." He went back to looking at her work in silence.
