Behind the reporter a busy court room was bustling as it prepared for the trial about the destruction of the Dark Angel and the Horse Head Nebula was about to commence again. There was a lot of the conjecture as to the direction this would go today. “With the recent return of the Dark Angel’s Captain – SO’koth Qultuq, it is up in the air how people expect this trial to go today. Though the Captain remains in a coma like state at the Starbase 001’s medical facility, it seems the fate of the ships captain is in question today, which has brought out some of the ships old crew, as well as several prominent Starfleet Officials.”
A court bailiff walked into the room, “If you could please take your seats!” he hollered above the crowed. “This Court proceeding is about to begin!”
“And so we wait and see!” the reporter stated as the camera panned to the Council members heading for there table.

=/\= The Trial of SO’koth Qultuq =/\=
The court proceeding had already been in session for several hours as things began to come to a head.
“Admiral Jessup, we have no records, and no sensor data to corroborate the situation here and yet your still attempting to pin this situation up as if it didn’t happen.”
Admiral Jessup stood. “We also have evidence that this crew of malcontents would do anything to keep there Captain’s name clean despite the situation. They have proven this on many occasions. They even took it upon themselves to go Rogue against starfleet for a time when things did not go there way. Decided to take the law into there own hands to prove there innocence. How do we know this isn’t what has been happening here all along.” He said almost angrily.
“You have no grounds to which prove said accusations.”
Admiral Jessup was about to start in on the Admiral for doubting his voracity when the doors which shouldn’t open during the court proceedings banged open. The Half Klingon, Human hybrid that stood there at the doors looked a slight bit unhappy. Nor did the woman standing behind him with the four kids gathered around her. The officer a Captain by rank began his trek forward towards the council as his companion took a seat. “It’s nice to see that Starfleet bureaucracy is consistent with its practices.” He said in a near booming voice as he walked past the bailiff into the political combat area.
“By what right do you have barging in on this council?” Admiral Jessup said, his face starting to flush red.
“Every right!’ So’koth said his gaze stopping on the Admiral. “After all this is about my actions!” he spouted and waited to let his words sink in. “Despite popular belief the rumors of my demise were slightly exaggerated.”
“Sokoth?” Admiral Pinky asked.
He nodded, and the crowed erupted in conversation.
“Order!” the council head called. “Order in this proceeding!”
So’koth looked over each of the persons on the council. “Gentlemen,” he said stopping clearly allowing the insult to sink in on the one woman on the council who had in his past attempted this once already.
“I’ll make this simple for you. What you know of the events is true. We came across a Borg Facility that had to be destroyed. You know this to be true because your Sensor and forensic data should tell you such. If you use the data the starship Voyager collected on its return home you would know that the debris left behind was consistent with a trans-warp facility.”
“Further more.” He glanced around the room now pacing in front of the panel of Admiral’s and stopping Admiral Jessup from starting his expected rant again.
“Why would my crew lie? What do they have to benefit from in this case? What did they have to gain? The case was about my command incompetence. And I employ you to look back at yourselves. Who is incompetent in this case?” the crowed started to grow louder again.
“Those who are attempting to charge someone who did his duty and was willing to risk everything to ensure the safety of this Federation? Or the one who would have ran back without action allowing them to complete there facility giving the Borg a devastating foothold on our Territory? Which one of you would have made the opposite decision? How can you answer that question without having been there?” This time a gentle murmur went through the crowed, he let his words rest upon them for a moment before he continued.
“If you wish to hang me out to dry because I lost a ship in the service to this Federation, then so be it. I can retire knowing I did the right thing. You can go the rest of your days wondering if you made the right decision here.” He looked each member of the council in the eye. “You can also find another Captain whom to pawn off your malcontents too. That will be a feat nearly impossible.” He smiled.
Pulling a Padd from his pocket, he pointed it at the viewscreen. “If you so choose to remove me from command, then so be it. My retirement is already taken care of. However I can make your job easier by telling you that the Dark Angel isn’t dead!” he hits another button on the Padd and the viewscreen came alive.
“A few years ago, my self and my executive officer knew that this day would be approaching. We didn’t know that it would end up with us making the sacrifice with our ship, but we knew that things were getting bad. So we had a contingency plan set up in the event we lost our ship.” On the viewscreen a picture of Starbase 001 floating in the sparkling darkness of space appeared.
“She doesn’t have a name yet, or a registry number, but we were hoping to use her to replace the former Dark Angel if something had happened to her!” coming around from behind the Starbase, heading towards the camera’s vantage point was an Akira Class hull design. Very clearly unfinished, parts of her hull plating was still missing, as was parts of the ships equipment.
“Is this a bribe!” Admiral Jessup asked coming up behind So’koth to get himself in view.
So’koth clearly gaining a dislike for this person turned and glared at him. “No Admiral, merely a statement that I have a ship regardless of what you decide here. I’ll go about my merry way with my ship. Or you can pay back my friend for the material’s and take the ship back under my command.” He looked back to the other Admiral’s. “It’s no threat. That ship is not nearly finished and can be reconfigured for cargo hauling or whatever I choose. However she would best be used serving Starfleet!”
There was a long pause, as they all regarded the ship on the screen, then the Captain. The five Admiral’s all talked back and forth in hushed voices for a few moments, during which time So’koth sent the second set of coordinates to the ship out in orbit, to head for Mar’s. “We shall dismiss this council so that we might discuss this situation in private. Our decision will be out to you tomorrow Captain!” the man at the head of the council said, he turned before walking back to the council chambers. “Welcome back Captain!” he said as the five council members made there exited.
Turning to Admiral Jessup he bowed his head, he already knew what the answer was, he started down the isle towards his wife and kids, and they too exited the room. There destination was for Lynna’s home on Mars, they both knew there was a lot of work to be done in the future. So what time they had to relax was precious.

=/\= Two Years Later =/\=
If you had been flying along next too both the new Dark Angel, and the old, you wouldn’t be able to tell much in the way of difference from the outside, the only differences were the inside. Over the last two months Lynna, So’koth and way more engineer’s than So’koth could count worked to pump out the new Dark Angel. They had nearly four times the Engineering crew then they had when the built the first so may years ago at the same docking station. It was only right that she be rebuilt in the place where the first had been constructed.
“Your ready!” Admiral Pinky said from his vantage behind So’koth. They both stared out at the Starship hanging in the distance.
So’koth Shifted uneasy. “I don’t know if I am or not!” So’koth said, a sullen look drifted over his features. “But there are people out there who are relying on me for more than one reason.”
“I understand they haven’t given you dispatch orders yet, or a fleet attachment.” Pinky said as he took a drink from his mug of coffee. “What are ya going to do?”
So’koth nodded turning to his friend. “We’ll I’ve got some stray sheep that I need to see about. Then I believe were going to be charged with a task force to find an old friend of ours, and bring him to justice.”
Pinky could see that it was difficult for him to talk about it, and he didn’t want to press the issue much. “You do owe him your life!” he said plainly.
“I would rather I had died!” So’koth said without any hesitation. “That would have been easier.”
“Have you heard from your Xo?” he asked a bit guarded.
So’koth hesitated a moment, a flash of something going through his mind as if he had suddenly been back there again. “No!” he said. “To be honest. I don’t think I will!”
Pinky nodded a small understanding coming between the two men. “When your ready to talk about it So’koth.” Sokoth waved away any further comment. “Your crew has started to report back in by the way. Some have chosen to stay in retirement.” He handed So’koth the Padd with a list. “Starfleet has also started sending you people as well to fill ya up.” He started for the door. “If you need anything you know where to find me.” And he was gone.
So’koth stared at the names for a long while, wondering if there would be any resentment towards his decisions back at the Horse Head nebula. The only people who had not replied back to his summons was Ms. Benham and Aj Halliwell so far. He had recently gotten a letter from Kestra Oliver, she had been doing very well for herself at Starfleet Medical. She was relived to hear he had survived after all and naturally just like most others she wanted to know how it was possible. But as usual he declined to talk about it. He hadn’t even been able to talk to his wife about it.
T’lok had even been to see him, having been on his way through to a seminar at Starfleet Academy on behalf of the Vulcan Science Academy. It was nice to see his old friend. He hesitated to ask him to return to duty too and it didn’t take him long to realize his old friend still didn’t have the control he once had. Not after the situation with his brother. He just wasn’t the same. But where any of them? He asked himself that question many times.
His wife sat him down one night and tried to pull what happened to him out of him because of his standoffish attitude towards there kids. He was still having problems adjusting. If they only knew what had happened. They would truly back off about it. He just couldn’t bring himself to talk about it.
The door chimed and ripped him from his thoughts. “Enter!” he spoke.
It was his wife and her Trio of Engineers. “So’koth would you explain to these buffoons the concept of redundant waveguides that you were trying to work into this new re-design please!” she asked pleadingly. “They are giving me a headache!”
He looked at the two engineer’s. “What’s the problem?” he asked.
“This many waveguides is not needed!” the Bolian Engineer stated flatly. “It’s too redundant for a ship of exploration!”
“Where not going to explore!” So’koth said flatly.
The three engineers’ went deadly quiet; they appeared to be slightly offended at his comment. Hurt even. “But Sir!” one of them started.
So’Koth held up his hand to stop the engineer. “Build it the way I specified! Or find another project!”
The three engineers left without another word. His wife stood there watching him. “You alright?” she asked moving a little closer to her husband.
“No!” he said.
“Can I help?” she asked him.
He shook his head, “No, time will help!” he said turning to his wife embracing her. “I think he’s dead!” he said.
“Nate?” she asked, as she wrapped her arms around her husband.
He nodded quietly. “He saved me and I let him down!” he hadn’t wanted to admit it but for some reason it felt like the best time.
“What do you mean? He pulled you off the Dark Angel?”
“No!” he said, his voice changing slightly, he sounded angry. “No, he saved me from the hell hole we ended up in!” she could feel his body tense against hers as if he was remembering something.
“What happened there? Who took you off the DA then?” she pulled away searching out his eyes.
He couldn’t meet her eyes, he could feel them probing him. “It was his Brother!” he said quietly.
Realization began to fall onto Lynna as she stood there. She knew what this man was capable of, she had been his Guest at one point herself. But he had never done what had been done to So’Koth to her or her companion Velvet. A shiver ran down her spine, thinking about what this man had come too. “We must have found something he didn’t want us to find!” she said finally after several moments had passed. “But what!” she mumbled, her mind clearly going to work.
“Dwain!” So’koth said flatly, now meeting her eyes. “The last time we met with Dwain he was a Borg hybrid thing. I thought we killed him, but perhaps that had something to do with this. I don’t know. But were going to find out!” So’koth said, he released himself from her arms, he grabbed up his brief case, and they headed off for home together in quiet reflection.
