"Alright Commander I will release you to your duties, but I am amending your request. There is one more officer I will mention of your background, but I trust them explicitly to keep that knowledge confidential. I'm telling you this because I abhore dishonesty. I know it is a necessary evil, but I am only deceptive when there is no other choice. You talk to your wife, and be ready this mission is going to be very dangerous." She stands and says "I have a pretty good idea who this other person is just make sure that that spitfire doesn't go and blow my cover just yet. Well after working for Section 31 for so long I have gotten used to people being dishonest with me and I have become quite adept at deceiving people as well. So if you you don't want to lie I can always do that for you. And their is not much I can tell Yumiko to convince her you will have to earn her trust over time. And Captain my missions are always extremely dangerous." She waits for a moment to see what the captains reply is if any.

He stood as she did. The answer was not surprising. "Then I look forward to meeting your wife at a later time. Once you are settled in to your quarters report to the bridge...dismissed." He finished.

After she finished speaking she turned around and walked out of the captains ready room and headed for the turbolift "Deck 3, please" After a brief ride in the lift she stepped out and made her way to her quarters where she would talk to Yumiko about what had just happened with the captain. Stanton had finally calmed his nerves, and was not in the processing stages. There was a lot the he didn't know before the past few hours. He knew a lot more than he did before. He knew that there was a race of aliens thus far being hidden by some members of starfleet. He knew his first and second officers owed a substantial part of their genetic makeup to this race. 'This race'...Drak, it was as if thinking it might invoke them like some mythological creature. Drak, he may as well get used to thinking it, even saying it. Drak, they key to this entire mystery. As a starfleet officer, you are trained in the cultures of many civilizations, some living and some dead. Meeting new species, first contact so to speak, was always predicated on the first contact being initiated 'by' the federation. He was dealing with his own first contact only these Drak seem to not know what they want. Revealing themselves to only a few, secretly crossbreeding with humans. This was totally perplexing to Stanton, and totally off track of the mission. He had some things to do but the first was to point this ship in the general direction of the Legacy.
He slapped the commmunication button activating it. "Lieutenant Jessica Benson of Two Dawns" He made sure to voice her entire name as not to insult her."Please meet me in my office." He needed to speak with his tactical officer before they shoved off.

She glanced up as each person entered the bridge and headed for the Captain's ready room, was admitted then shortly afterwards left the ready room and the bridge altogether. She kept thinking that the captain had mentioned he wanted to talk to her but with no summons to the ready room not yet forthcoming, she presumed it was not that important
She finished the tactical drills as the new first officer had instructed her to do, with one scenario having some surprising results. Once she compiled at the data, it was sent to the First Officer and the captain for viewing and contemplating
Soon her shift ended and her beta shift replacement came in to replace her, but she waved the officer off, wanting to stay in case the captain could find it in his busy schedule to see her about what he had wanted to talk about.
Another hour had passed and her patience had waned. She was not that good at waiting, perhaps that came from her hot headed mother.. no, not her beloved Earon but her birth mother, the one her father had told her to avoid at all costs. She done so but then she thought it cosmic irony that Jessica found her natural mother on the ship that she had been assigned to serve with. She would have to be a little more cautious and careful if she were to avoid her birth mother now.
With a frustrated growl, she recalled her beta shift relief and then entered the turbo lift as soon as she arrived, She called for the lounge but in mid route, her communicator came to life with the captain's voice, paging her, finally, to his ready room, noting the full use of her name. She couldn't help but roll her eyes "Again, with the full name." She commented to her self "I am not Sivaoan, like I may look like I am."
The computer chimed in "Please restate destination"
"Never mind" Jess told the computer then added "Cancel destination. New destination, back to the bridge." As the computer replied, she reached up and tapped her badge =T= "On my way, Captain" She said then walked back onto the bridge. She walks over and rings the chime.

"On my way, Captain" She replied. Stanton could note the impatience in her voice. It had been a few hours since the bridge confrontation, and Stanton had hoped she might have cooled down just a bit. Apparently it was a bit if at all. Well, he smiled to himself, more in common with you mother than you would care to admit. It didnt' take long for the tactical officer to get to his office. He activated the door from his desk without preamble. As she entered the office, he gestured her to sit down. "I wanted to talk to you." He said finally. "I have really since I met your father, but we have some ship's matters to discuss first." He paused and looked down at her file. "As you can tell by some of the moves I've already made I've gone off script on whatever the director general had planned. I've already reassigned several officer, and now I have some questions for you." He looked back down at her file. "I think the first question is: Why are you here?"

As soon as the Ready Room doors opened, she walked in, willing her tail to keep from twitching, or at least trying to. She glanced at the chair that the captain gestured to, then sitting in it, after she wrapped her tail around her waist. Most chair, made by humans, were uncomfortable cause they left no room for the tail, as humans had no tails of their own. Poor humans, she mused, as she took to listening to what the captain had on his mind.
He started off by saying that he had wanted to talk to her. That, she knew already. A smile briefly lit her lips as the captain mentioned her father. Such an honorable man, she thought, whose been through a great deal in his life, then nodded, glancing to the file that the captain opened, hearing him say that they had ship's business to discuss. Eve from her point of view, the file is hers, or rather is on her and her eyes left the file and returned to the captain's head bent form. She had noticed a few changes, one that happened right before her eyes as the captain had reassigned now former First Officer and assigned the son of the director general as first officer. A change she did not like or agree to but it was the captain's choice. Her left brow rose as he verbalized the question, asking why is she here "Just like everyone else, Captain, I was assigned here. I don't know who pulled who's tail to get me off the station at that time, but here I am. It is amusing though, at the timing of my arrival since it coincided with the explosive incident but I can assure you, it was none of my doing." She said, at least trying to cover her own tail, also trying to give the impression that she was just as surprised and caught off guard by the incident as everyone else.

He found it interesting that her first reaction was defensive. Nevermind that fact that the explosion on the station was never mentioned. He also noticed she was making an effort at 'looking' relaxed. It was not effective. "I asked you because your father is an Admiral in the fleet. If you wanted, I'm sure he could have had you assigned to his ship. The CRV is not exactly a glamour arm of starfleet." [/fontHe thought for a moment. "That being said, I want to thank you for trying to help on the bridge, it was brave but very stupid. Lieutenant I know that risk is our business and all, but you need to learn what is and acceptable risk. This is my ship therfore and acceptable risk for me is to keep my bridge in order. You on the other hand, an acceptable risk is calling security. I've learned things about those two and if you hadn't been pulled away you would have surely died.I need to know will use better judgement in the future. I'll need it."

Jessica wasn't trying to be defensive but perhaps that was the aura that she is projecting. Not just with the captain but with other people as well. In the back of her mind, she remembered the explosion. She was just reporting in and making her arrival to the Sotrila and somehow she had escaped injury. Perhaps because the Sotila had took the brunt of the explosion while she was coming in for landing in the shuttle bay?
Her attention came back to the present when the captain commented that her father is an admiral, Her whiskers twitched in annoyance. Perhaps people thought that since she is an Admiral's daughter, she expects special treatment. No, she didn't. She'd rather make her own path and not bask in her father's shadow "Perhaps, Captain. He could have assigned me here but I am doubting that. He dislikes the CRV as much as you like sticking my tail in your business. That was foolish of me and I do apologize."
She then smiles a bit, with a heated gleam in her eyes, mostly amusement "My dear captain, it would take more then a half drak to kill me." She caught the surprised look on Stanton's face "Yes, I do know of the annoying race of Draks. My father has told me of some of his experiences with them, especially with a couple in specifics, but I don't think you want to here those boring details, one of them being the one known as your former first officer. As for using 'better judgement' in the future, I shall endeavor to do so so I don't have my tail bit off in a slice bill's nest" ( so she doesn't get into any more trouble.. )

"My dear captain, it would take more then a half drak to kill me." Stanton hadn't volunteered any information, but it was clear that Jessica knew 'something'. Stanton still preferred to keep him information 'close to the chest' so to speak. So he let Jessica continue and went to school on her words. "Yes, I do know of the annoying race of Draks. My father has told me of some of his experiences with them, especially with a couple in specifics, but I don't think you want to here those boring details, one of them being the one known as your former first officer. As for using 'better judgement' in the future, I shall endeavor to do so so I don't have my tail bit off in a slice bill's nest" ( so she doesn't get into any more trouble.. ). He smiled at her last comment. She had at least realized some of her mistakes, but with the mission ahead Stanton had no learning curve. "I'm glad you understand the gravity of the situation." Stanton acknowledged. "However, I must inform you that there is more than 'half a Drak' on this ship right now. I would also caution you that underestimating your enemy can also lead to failure and death. Lieutenant, I see a lot of potential in you as an officer but you are very raw. I'm going to continue to evaluate you, but for right now I'm taking you out of the chain of command. I want you to concentrate on your duties and responsibility at tactical. I still expect to see you exercise leadership and lead a good example for the junior officer, but I have more experienced officers that will have a better time coping with our coming mission. After that mission is over, I will re-evaluate you."

As she sat there with Stanton, she got an empathic impression of him. Stanton was a good officer but he liked to keep things to himself, and volunteer information only on a need to know basis and even then he is wary of sharing of information. In her experiences, that can be good, but it also lead to trouble. She hasn't lived almost 2,500 years without picking up a few things
She nods at the captain as he went on and commented that there is more then just half drak on the ship. That she already knew, if her drak senses was any indication. Lately, she's felt like she has been plugged into a plasma relay, continuously getting buzzing energy flowing through her, a big indication of drak nearby. The Captain seemed to be warning her of the dangers to come but the dangers were already here, she mentally mused but more then likely there will be greater dangers once the mission is underway
Her brow shot up as he mentioned that he was taking her out of the command staff, but leaving her at tactical to perform the duties of a tactical officer. Well, that was good. She wanted to be there as a tactical officer, not aspiring to be a command level officer but if the situation warranted, she would step in temporarily to get them out of a bad situation without making the situation worse. "I understand your caution as this is your ship and putting the best officers in a position to defend the ship well is a good plan but to be honest, putting someone like the son of CRV Director-General in as First Officer is a calculated risk it itself. He seems like a hot head and would take very little to set him off. My mo.." She paused a moment then continued "..Commander Phontan, in my opinion, would have been a better choice but as you are the captain, you know what you want and what is best" Even though there would be greater chances of interaction between her and Phontan. "Should something happen to the present command staff, I would like to reserve the right to make a command decision to attempt to pull the ship and its crew out of harm's way."

Stanton was sure that the Admiral never mentioned a relationship with them, but Stanton always suspected something. He let her continue without interruption. "..Commander Phontan, in my opinion, would have been a better choice but as you are the captain, you know what you want and what is best". Considering the adverserial relationship she and Photan had, he was surprised by the statemen. Then again, he shouldn't have been. He was remembering Admrial Grabfoot of Two Dawns words. Oh great, family feud the next generation. "Should something happen to the present command staff, I would like to reserve the right to make a command decision to attempt to pull the ship and its crew out of harm's way."
"Lieutenant," He said after a slight pause for effect. "I understand your trepidation when it comes to the new Executive Officer, but you'll have to trust my judgement that for this mission he is the best man for the job." He paused to think. "As far as Commander Photan goes, if I have my way she will be with us for a long time, and I have a feeling you need that. As far as saving my ship, I would fully expect you to do your best to do that. Just allow the other officers to do their jobs too. They're pretty good when they want to be." He said the last with a smile.

Her words seemed to have had a pausing effect with the captain. His annoyance with her seemingly rising. She listened to his return comments and nodded slowly as he commented that she would have to trust his judgement and confidence in the new First Officer. She knew that her father hated the Grant clan and she assumed it was for a good reason, but then again, she was not her father.
Her lips twitched as they started to form a smile, along with a curling of her tail as the captain, again, said something she thought amusing. She wondered if her next words would reveal the nature of her and Phontan's relationship without actually telling him directly. She was sure that the captain would want to know at some time, but with her relationship status with Phontan was something that she wanted to 'keep to a tell as few people as possible' status "Me? Need Commander Phontan around? Hardly. I barely knew her for most of my life and now, I am stuck with her on this ship. No, I don't hate her or have any grudges against her, but now I kind of find it a bit ironic that I am here on this ship with her. As for allowing others to do their jobs, I will let them do theirs while I do mine. I learned from the best Tactical officer in the fleet, who is now an Admiral." With that, she tossed a playful wink at the captain

He liked the fact that she was comfortable in her own skin, and he liked that.
"It is a good example to follow." He smiled again. "My father was an Admiral too, I followed that example to a point. I know that you understand that you will need to find your own way as a part of star fleet. You may start out as a tactical officer and end up as an engineer. It is where your stengths take you. I've seen plenty of Captains turn down promotion to keep their command. Picard did it multiple times, and So did Riker till he was finally ready for his own ship. Just know that my door is always open and I'm ready to discuss any issues you have both with your job or other crew...including Commander Photan. So if you have no more questions you can get back to your duties. I would like you down in engineering. Get with the chief and find out what work he's done on the weapons systems. I've heard he's been busy. You will also need to find out what torpedo types were transferred over by supply and make sure it matches requests."

Seems the Captain knew where she is coming from, at least in terms of career and having a parent as an admiral. She wanted to follow in her father's footsteps yet she also wanted to make her own path in life. "I also have heard stories of captain's turning down promotions to stay away from a desk job, as the term goes. Being out in space, sitting in the command seat, that is where the excitement and mystery of everything else. That is how my father felt but after living a couple millennia, he feels that he is showing his age and wanting to settle down and leave the path of the stars to the younger generation as he has said. Perhaps one day I will get my own ship and I will be as good a Captain as my father, or as the aforementioned Captains Kirk and Picard but I know I am not ready." She finishes and then listens to the captain's advise/instructions "Perhaps, I can give the chief some assistance in the tactical areas, give him my input or any ideas I may have. and check what weapons we have as well as shield strength and weaknesses." She then got up to leave as the captain dismissed her

As his tactical officer departed his office, Stanton took a deep sigh. That was the last thing that needed immediate attention. He sent a message to Chief McTavish to expect Jessica. His thoughts went back to the mission. The information he had not was great but still wasn't the full picture. He now knew that starfleet was at war with itself over control of the Drak. Well, not control so much as who would be their contact. The computer came to life before he could say something. "Commander Photan, is no on board." The computer stated dryly. He had thoughts on talking to his Operations Officer, but that needed to wait. This had to be dealt with now. "Commander Photan, report to my officer immediately." He needed to go over some things with her.

A voice calls out to her in the distance; Kate hears none of it and focuses inwardly. "Kate? I need your help." A young lad asked. Kate doesn’t look over and utters, “Kid. I don't know who you are, I'm having a moment here. Piss off, yea?” The persistent voice continues, "Kate. Please I need your help." She turns around to see a face she least expects. “Why are you here?” She asked knowing who the lad was, “I’m not her.” The lad answered, “Technically, you are. You’re a Primary and doesn’t mean that I haven’t met you, that your not her.”
“You’re a pain! I can help you back to where you belong……” The lad speaks over her, “No, Kate I’m here because this is the place I need to be. You’re the only one I know that can help me.” She closed her eyes and gave out a elongated sigh. “Why the fuck are you coming to me? Of all fucking people Benji! Isn’t that what your ‘Le’doseah’ is for?!” She realizes in his face that its something to do with ‘her’. “Benji….” Her thoughts trailed and was quickly side tracked. “Wait. Why are you wearing that?” He looks at her with a confused look. “Boy! You stand out! What’s the matter with you!” Smacks him upside the head.
Kate pulls him along down a street then unexpectedly shoves him down an alley, “Your desperate to come to me. She and I never saw things on the same level. Even if I helped you how the fuck do you think she would feel it was me?” She looks over him like a owner and her dog. Benjamin hesitantly answers, “She would be thankful” Kate just looked at him and watched Ben continue to say. “I’m here to break her out.” Kate shifted her sights from seeing a boy to a moron, “Clarify?”
“You know what I’m talking about. Its about this time that it happens and…” Kate blows up on him, “You can’t change time! It has already happened. ‘she’ was meant to be there. If we alter that the sub timelines would change and create a whole new series of paradoxes.” He interjected, “How do you know that for a fact?” Ben raised his voice. “There is a hole in her mind! And… and I don’t know what to do. If it was such a bad experience, why have her even live through it?” She listened till he was finished. “You know if its changes you may never have had met.” Ben looked in her green eyes, “yes, that’s possible but it won’t change our timeline instantly. It would change through the series of paradox sub timelines first.”
Kate smirked, “Bingo Benji. it 'might' or will fuck up a whole new series of timelines before it effects ours. It is not a risk i'm willing to take.” Ben continues his thoughts, "Please listen! If it happen in the other sub realities enough and they are similar to each other. They will eventually merge in to the sub timelines and eventually merge in to the primary. As primary sequence it could change our timeline.” He paused to shift to another thought, “How do you know we didn’t do this already? I know the Drak and future us has already experience all this. I’m living proof that we can change this. I wasn’t even suppose to be here but I am. Because she changed it!”
“I understand what your telling me but she didn’t go back in time to have rewritten your path to be with us. She intersected herself in to your reality, she could have gone back in wiped out the Espheni from invading your world but she didn’t. Why are you changing a sequence in her’s?” Kate demanded. “You won’t understand. She and I have a bond that transcends words and feelings. I just have to…” He briefly paused, “I will do this with or without you and if I have to fight you, i will!.”
Kate laughed loudly! “Boy you are pathetic! Fight me? Who are you to be even comparing yourself to me.” She slowly changed demeanor, “I’ll help you. Not for her but I’m doing this for you but this has to be done right.” She tugs him along running across Oxford Street in to John Prince’s Street and just in front of a shop named Zara. “What’s your lead? What now?” she asked.
“Anya Rothschild.” He said.
“Come again?!” She found it completely coincidental but knowing it wouldn’t be, that Ben would say that. He answers, “She is the key in finding her. Anya will lead us to where she is kept and we need a warp core and 'this'…..” He points to a duffle bag he carried with him.
Kate knew exactly what he was asking of her, “Alright. I’ll take care of it.” she simply said. She sighed, “Now. How the fuck am I going to hide you along for the ride?”
“Don’t you have a ship?” he said. “Yea, yeah I do. Lets go…” Kate walked down a street with Benjamin following.
Kate returned with the shuttle craft that she borrowed from the Sotrila. She had returned on her short walkabout ‘alone’; without Ben. She sensed a presents that was all too familiar to her. “God damnit.” Was all she said before exiting the shuttlebay with a duffle bag on shoulder.

On her way to the Captain’s Ready Room she made a quick stop at her quarters. As the doors slid open she through the duffle bag in to the room. (The contents of the bag will not show up in any sensors or with any talents of the Drak.) As it lands on the couch and firmly settle on it, Kate quickly returns to the Command Deck. She chimed the door but overrided the locking mechanism and let herself in. “Who is here?” was the frist words she said. “Never mind, I know who is here 'but' why is she here?” Kate had enough visits from home that could fill a lifetime.
“Well? I’m still mad at you and at the situation. I respect your decisions…..” She smirked, “but I will follow your orders.” As Kate said with a sudden seriousness. She had obligations to up hold and she wouldn’t betray her duties to the Sotrila. The feeling that coursed through her body of An’nux’s being on board was strong. It gave out a burning 'super' charge through out her body. To the rest of the hybrids on board the sensation wouldn’t be their reactions but just between An’nux and herself.
Now it was a conflict of what she promised Ben and now An’nux getting in her way again. Kate may not be a match to her but she could hold a good long while against the Gray Overlord. The battle ground might be on board the Sotrila and that something Kate would avoid at all cost.
She may be in deep thought, however, she was good in keeping that concealed to any outside observer. (As well as any telepaths that maybe listening in, Draks like herself and An’nux are impossible to be read and would give a false but genuine illusion of a reading.)

Kate entered Stanton's office not standing on ceremony...good. He wasn't in the mood for pomp and circumstance.“Who is here?” was the frist words she said. “Never mind, I know who is here 'but' why is she here?” Stanton stayed silent. He regarded her as she made her statement in a casual form, but he knew there was concern behind it. “Well? I’m still mad at you and at the situation. I respect your decisions…..” She smirked, “but I will follow your orders.” It was the first time since he'd first taken command of Sortila that she was back to her joking self. Most people would find that reassuring. Stanton knew different. Kate's fire was her true self. Bowing to no one and apologizing for nothing. It didn't make her the ideal officer, but Stanton respected it. This version was her manipulative face. A woman used to twisting men up like a pretzel. She was good at hiding her emotions she had centuries of practice. Stanton wasn't one for charity nor would he ever be 'handled' by anyone, man or woman. Kate entered the room with one false assumption...that Stanton was still clueless. There were many ways he could tell her different, but the way he chose would test both of them.
He walked over to his desk retrieving her blade and a second box. He took her blade set it down in front of him with his right hand. He chose the right hand to send a message to her. He took the second blade out and kissed with reverence. The second blade was the opposite of the first. There was no ornament. It was an old style bayonnet. The style dated back to ancient human history. It had been restored and treated. The hilt reworked but anyone looking would know exactly what they were looking at. A knife with a union insignia. "You showed me 'yours'," Stanton said finally smiling at Kate. "Now its time for me to show you 'mine'. After all, I can't have my second officer walking around without her 'Drak' honor. Can I?"

Kate watched Stanton present her blade before them and another dating from the mid 1800s. She understood why he presented his weapon to convey a form of honor restored, however it didn’t work that way. Kate saw the meaning of the bayonet from Stanton. She gestured a 'may I' hold this relic? then she took it closer to her on the desk. Then took her blade from the desk and cleaned the stained blade. Kate returned it from where it came forth, which was as mysterious as it first appeared. She pulled another one and this was simple but still a ceremonial item, however less war in nature.
Kate moved her blade inches from Stanton, then she took his bayonet towards her lips and kissed it as well. Then quickly took the human weapon and stabbing it through her left hand. “It is only restored if you draw blood of your own from my own blade, as I have done from yours.” She laid the old artifact softly back on the desk. Her hand quickly began to heal but she pulled her hand away before it could be notice. She looked in to Stanton's eyes then back towards her blade.

Stanton watched Kate as she held his blade with reverence. He knew she would understand everything about the weapon and its significance without words. She kissed his blade mirroring his own action and drew blood from her hand. “It is only restored if you draw blood of your own from my own blade, as I have done from yours.” She laid the blade down softly and lovingly. In the act, he saw tenderness. It was something he had never seen from her. She eyed her blade and them Stanton. She waited nervously unsure of Stanton's conviction. Kate was not one to rely on anyone, and the fact that she needed this was clear. Stanton kept his eyes locked on her as he reached for the blade. He knew somehow that the cut Kate made would heal quickly. A warrior race like the drak would naturally have a way of quickly recovering from battle. Humans did not. This did not stop Stanton from cutting his hand to the bone. Blood poured onto the blade making a coating of red. It was as if the blade absorbed his blood thirsty for me. He made a fist as blood dripped between his fingers. Ignorant of pain he raised the blood soaked blade in her eye line. This was not a conversation of words. It was a conversation of action between two warriors. He gently put the blade next to his and symbolically the blood on both blades mingled together. "You have been restored." He walked over to his shelf grabbing a hypo and a dermal regenerator. "So now we can have a real conversation."
