While Stanton stood up to retrieve medical supplies. The two blades with their blood merging; Stanton’s blood does not coagulate but remains as if it were still in him. Kate’s blood seemingly kept the human blood cells regenerated but something else was there. The Sotrila’s sensors will not pick this up yet... Kate waited for Stanton to sit back down and after he spoke, “So now we can have a real conversation." She took the hypo and the dermal regenerator from his other hand and placed them aside. Kate’s eyes maintained attention on his wound. She leaned over and licked the blood from his wound, tasting, almost consuming it and before Stanton pulled away to react. Kate's expression relished the blood in her mouth she licked her lips making sure nothing was wasted.
Her right hand quickly morphed in to something else; the Drak Bio’Armor materialized and folded out. It appeared to be an outer shell, like a glove, however, very organic as if it were her biological arm. With that same hand she cupped over her human left hand, having Stanton’s between. A bright white glow enveloped his hand and soon after she releases her firm grip, allowing Stanton to pull away. A brief moment the Sotrila’s computer sounded an alert to a viral contagion found in the Captain’s Ready Room. With the same arm that Kate healed Stanton’s would she placed that against a computer terminal, as if it were to order the Sotrila’s computer to disregard. “I agree we need to talk.”

Staton's hand ached like the blazes. He could feels the heat around the wound, but he would not acknowledge his pain. He would not give his body that power over him. He could feel it throbbing when he got the Medkit and sat it down. He had already pulled out a dermal regenerator and the first hypo when Kate moved in close to him. She stared into his eyes with both tenderness and curiosity . She placed the instruments to the side and licked the blood from his open wound. The act was both sentual and feral all at the same time. Her eyes revealed an animal hunger beyond desire. There was some traces of Stanton's blood on her lips and her tongue flicked across her lips with a snake like speed and precision drawing ever drop into her. She paused a moment as if savoring her drink the glanced briefly down to her hand. The armor appeard as if it had grown from her skin. She held Stantons hands between her own to hand. A glow leaked from her fingers and Stanton's hand began to cool. The pain subsided, and the swelling was immediately gone. She slowly released his hand sitting down calmly; as if nothing had happened. "I agree," She finally spoke. "We need to talk."
Stanton had a speech all prepared, but her words intrigued the Sortila captain. "Alright Commander," He said calmly. "You have the floor."

“What are we going to do about this Anya Rothschild?” Kate bluntly said. She hasn’t forgotten the escort vessel that has them mandatory assigned on the Sotrila. The USS Harbinger is the same class as the Legacy and ironically it presents an opportunity. “Next is how are we going to get rid of the Harbinger? Have we forgotten she is the same class as the Legacy? Even if we did the evade the Harbinger. The Legacy is in the Gamma Quadrant. The Sotrila’s slipstream is fast but not 'that' fast, it will take us years to reach were she is.” Kate continued to say, “We have two options; get the Legacy to return to a point in space that we can practically get to. Or is there a technology that can speed up the process?” As she was referring to Research and Development from the CRV or The Institute.
Kate noticed on Stanton’s face that the conversation may have gone else where then what he expected. She sensed it was something to do with the Drak and that was something she rather pretend that was done with. The Drak matters are not meant to fall on non-Drak ears; even if there are more Drak centered on his ship. Kate felt that he may think he understood but there are a whole 'series' of verses that he clearly doesn't see.

“What are we going to do about this Anya Rothschild?” Kate stated in a blunt professional tone. Kate had taken a seat with a casual stance. She sat back and though for another moment. “Next is how are we going to get rid of the Harbinger? Have we forgotten she is the same class as the Legacy? Even if we did the evade the Harbinger. The Legacy is in the Gamma Quadrant. The Sotrila’s slipstream is fast but not 'that' fast, it will take us years to reach were she is.” Kate went on as one continuous thought. “We have two options; get the Legacy to return to a point in space that we can practically get to. Or is there a technology that can speed up the process?”
Stanton expression turned sour for a moment the changed to silent contemplation. He regarded Kate for a few moments. These were all good questions and ones she should be asking. He began to ponder. This was her way. She was practiced in controlling conversation. He was sure he wasn't the first one who questioned her about this over her who knows how many years of service, and moving conversation around was what she did. What she didn't know is that Stanton had more than a passing curiosity. It actually pertained to the mission. He finally looked at her and smiled. "So," He sat up straight. "How are you?" He slid the to daggers to the side. "I know it's a simple question among humans." He commented. "Its a simple question which can be answered simply or in great detail. I ask you because I've listened to what you have told me since you in my office. All I've heard from you, are things I 'want' to hear. So I'm asking you for an honest and not so simple answer to the question: "How are you?"

“What is the bloody relevance to ‘how’ I feel to the mission? Course my emotional being is important…” She seriously but with the hint of sarcasm said, “I’m a professional woman and I can direct what is needing to be done when it is needed.” She changed tones, “Is that the true nature you demoted me? The clear question should be asked about you?” With a curious finger pointed at Stanton. "Your no councilor, love." Looked at him dead in the eyes, "Now answer me bloody questions about your plans of this hunt or you as well isn't fit to run this ship let alone this mission, 'Captain'."

“What is the bloody relevance to ‘how’ I feel to the mission? Course my emotional being is important…” Here it goes Stanton thought as he smiled inwardly. “I’m a professional woman and I can direct what is needing to be done when it is needed.” He wasn't sure if there was a point other than her ire being raised. “Is that the true nature you demoted me? The clear question should be asked about you?” She pointed an accusing finger at Stanton. "Your no counselor, love." Her eyes locked on his with a demanding look. "Now answer me bloody questions about your plans of this hunt or you as well isn't fit to run this ship let alone this mission, 'Captain'."
Stanton's eyes locked on hers as if pulling her face an inch away from his. "What do you just say to 'me'." He said slowly stressing the word 'me'. "Let me establish something, You can come into this office and ask my whatever questions you want, I've always told you that. However, I can 'answer' whatever I choose to. I don't claim to know your history. One day I hope you might trust me with some of it, but you are not dealing with a child even though I'm sure you are a lot older than you look. You can't just walk in here and gloss over some things and worry about others. Before I step into a battle I need to see the field. Right now, I only have half that information. I know that you have some kind of oath regarding all this Drak malarky. I don't want you breaking it, but believe this: Whatever I don't know, Rothchilde does, and she could give two shits about you or the Drak. Or maybe she does. Maybe the Drak are he aim all along. The main thing is you need to get your head our of your cute little ass and focus on the why. The how is already being worked and worked out."

She laughed, “I have obligations to the ‘ship’ not you! Me following your orders is just pleasantries to mimic your culture.” She remained seated, “You speak that my soding mind is up my bloody ass when you have been all your life up inside yours. What is it do you think you know of the Drak?” She asked. “Like the many questions I have asked none has been answered. Likely out of the ignorance. You know nothing of the Drak! You are not a Drak but a small human trying to understand a small puzzle in a much larger game.” Kate’s eyes glowed brilliant green, “To trust you is almost as bad in trusting your XO. How can I trust you when you have answered nothing?”
She felt the other pure Drak on board, “What is ‘Ambassador’ An’nux doing on the Sotrila? Cuddling her son’s ego? Or your attempts to purge me from here?” The rooms air began to heat the space around Kate starts to distort. “The Sotrila will burn from within before you work with ‘her’ to remove me from this mission.” She slowly stood. “I don’t give a damn what that human Admiral Rothschild wants with the Drak. She too doesn’t understand anything! Like you calling me here questioning what I know.” She pointed to her head, “The only way you get to what I know is to pull it out of me.” She paused, “Humans. I don’t know why I bother with sentiment. If I could bleach that part out of myself I would.”

“I have obligations to the ‘ship’ not you! Me following your orders is just pleasantries to mimic your culture.” She laughed mockingly. It was the most emotional reaction he was able to elicit from her. “You speak that my soding mind is up my bloody ass when you have been all your life up inside yours. What is it do you think you know of the Drak?” She asked with a accusing tone. “Like the many questions I have asked none has been answered. Likely out of the ignorance. You know nothing of the Drak! You are not a Drak but a small human trying to understand a small puzzle in a much larger game.” She said as if explaining something to a child. He eyes glowed a fiery green reflecting her hanger like a ancient 'mood ring'. “To trust you is almost as bad in trusting your XO. How can I trust you when you have answered nothing?” Kate's ill feelings about his choice rears its ungly head again.
What is ‘Ambassador’ An’nux doing on the Sotrila? Cuddling her son’s ego? Or your attempts to purge me from here?” Oh? A new accusation. This was getting interesting. He felt the heat come off her body, not afraid but actually attracted to it. Kate made others afraid because they didn't understand her nature. Understanding a person didn't have anything to do with culture. Some semblence of Kate was human. She may have loathed that side of herself but it was there. “The Sotrila will burn from within before you work with ‘her’ to remove me from this mission.” He found this an interesting statement all things considered. She stood slowly from her chair as if to emphasize her point. “I don’t give a damn what that human Admiral Rothschild wants with the Drak. She too doesn’t understand anything! Like you calling me here questioning what I know.” She pointed and accusing finger at Stanton. “The only way you get to what I know is to pull it out of me.” She paused with a disgusted looked on her face. “Humans. I don’t know why I bother with sentiment. If I could bleach that part out of myself I would.” Stanton looked at her bemused. The room fell silent as he watched in full fury. Heating up the room. He had this strange smirk on his face as if holding back laughter, suddenly it happened. A full fledge, belly splitting, eye watering laugh. He stood up not to face her in anger but to applaud. "Brava!" He said clapping his hand. "Kate Photan, welcome to the Sortila." He said continuing to applaud. "I'm starting to think you drak watch a lot of 'old holo'. It's like watching a 'soap opera or drama'. He took a deep breath and sat down calmly."You made a lot of points so allow me to address them all." He made himself comfortable. "You are loyal to an inanimate object." He smiled. "That's interesting considering that if I don't say 'go', this ship don't go." He paused. "Kate," He called her by her given name because this conversation was going to be personal, she made it that way. "You have made some broad assumptions about me. First of all I wasn't exactlty hiding An'Nux presence from you or anyone else. How the hell do you think I knew how to restore 'your' honor." He rubbed his cheek. "Got a nice sock in the jaw for my trouble. I also want to point out that An would not be here had you not provoked her son into challenging to fight to death." He pointed his finger at her mocking her own motion. "I don't tell you these things because I feel compelled to," He smiled. "That act of yours may work on most humans, but I"m not most humans. I would also appreciate you asking me a direct question when you want a direct answer." He stopped to think for a moment. "You should also know that neither An'nux or the hell's chorus makes decisions for me regarding my ship. If wanted you removed you'd know it. I am neither afraid nor hesitant to do it,and if you become a danger to this ship you are os loyal to, I will. Lastly, I'm not looking to understand 'draks' so far the only thing of learned from the lot of you is that you are a bunch of mouthy premadonas. What I do need to know is what that bitch Rothschild wants with you. She already has outgunned and she's smarter. If we go in blind to her intentions the only one coming out alive are you and An, and by my judgement you'll just kill each other." He ignored the comment about humans for now because that was worth an entire conversation on its own.

The heat in the room instantly halted; as if an air lock was opened. Kate’s eyes was shocked at the mocking laughter and her words were silenced. She stopped speaking from the things he pointed out which were true. Her actions did bring the same unwanted things to the situation. It was a slap to her face. The whole experience caused her body to react but physically and chemically and the Drak cells didn’t vibrate but ‘awoken’. She has hundreds of more times of Drak cells then a normal hybrid would. The control Kate had weakened enough to let something inside to take over.
A quick silence came over the room, even while Stanton spoke the room had a deafening tone. Like hearing but not hearing after a gunshot was fired next to your ear. Kate quickly advanced forward throwing Stanton’s desk aside, enough force to embed it in to the wall. She lunged towards him with such a force he was against the bulkhead. It was controlled however because if it weren’t Stanton’s head would have been crushed on impact. Her expression on her face went cold and her eyes gone black with a faint hue of burgundy.
Something that was once called ‘Kate’ was no longer there. Her hand gripped on to his throat tight, nearly cutting air to his body. Her actions seemed to convey that it was like a foreign being had just entered the room. Not knowing why ‘it’ has a hand around a man’s neck. Quickly Stanton was thrown to the other side of the room, like being fling aside. “This trivial speaking is a waste of time.” It was her voice but not how she spoke.
Stanton should be drifting in and out of consciousness or at the least conscious but unable to gain control of his body. To him he would see a whole new entity in the body of Commander Phontan. It placed her hand on a wall terminal accessing the Sotrila’s impulse engines. The vessel began to move forward destroying the connection of corridors between the starship and Sol Starbase.
To the outside of the Sotrila; particularly to Admiral Grabfoot of Two Dawns. He could see the starship ripped its connections and head towards the inner walls of the Starbase. On all sensors a sudden appearance of another space was read. The space directly in front of the Sotrila distorted and opened an aperture. It was an indefinable passageway to a space that was on the other side of the galaxy. Before the opening closed the USS Thunder was able to fly through it with the Sotrila.
Back in Stanton’s Ready Room a slight distortion appeared out from a wall. Benjamin comes barreling out and the first thing he does is run up to Stanton, “Are you ok?!” he show genuine concern and even helps the Captain to his feet or at least to a chair. Ben then turns to Kate, “Hey! What are you doing!?” He cautiously approaches her, “Hey! Snap out of it!” He realizes its not Kate…... entirely. “Kate! Wake up!”
She ignores both Ben and Stanton as 'it' looks to look out the viewport. Benjamin yells out, “Del’Lein ah!” Kate snap back with bright green eyes confused to what had occurred, "Wha, why are you he….". Her body goes limp and she drops to the ground. Ben runs up to her and holds her in his arms, “Kate! Are you there! Is it you again? I have to go your captain is regaining..…” Ben quickly but softly places her on the floor and briefly looks up at Captain Briggs before phasing in to space.

Now Stanton Briggs was never known as a man of weak constitution. He could hold his liquor well enough to out drink a Klingon. He's taken his share of punches in the war so this was never a problem either. What he had experienced at the moment was best described as a 'mule' kick. She lept across the room like a panther slamming him against the wall. This was a particularly interesting action as he had never been thrown like this before. Kate's looked at him with no expression. It was less emotional and more robotic. Her hands wrapped around his throat as if to get his full attention. He could feel his air constricted, and the pressure slowly increasing on his windpipe. He did look away and there was no fear in his eyes. If he was going to die then he would stare death in the eye unflinching. Kate's eyes darkened but differently this time. It wasn't the ebony glow as before. It looked like an infected version of the normal blackness. Stanton had noticed is desk embedded into the wall of his office she had moved so quickly he'd barely seen it fly away. It didn't take long for Stanton to follow it. He slammed against the wall with such force that he heard his shoulder forced out of joint. He blinked his eyes rapidly. The sweet darkness of unconsciousness beckoned, but he would not give into it. “This trivial speaking is a waste of time.” He heard a voice that was similar to Kate's but this one was hollow, and almost metallic. 'Damn it, he would not go to sleep yet.
In this state of near unconsciousness his other senses were more acute. He felt the tethers ripped from the ship. He knew it moved somehow he could feel it. It was then that another voice was heard. Stanton tried to raise his throbbing head to see who it was. “Are you ok?!” was all the person said to Stanton. He sat Stanton in a nearby chair turning his attentions to Kate. “Hey! What are you doing!?” The person said as he slowly approached the possessed Drak.“Hey! Snap out of it!” His tone changed to one of concern. “Kate! Wake up!” He demanded. One thing was for sure he knew his second officer well. She stood staring at the view port calmly eying her work. Then he said something that Stanton did not understand “Del’Lein ah!” The words as if using some ancient command caused Kate to regain her bearing. Wha, why are you he….". He saw the shadow of Kate's body fall and instinctively stood up. Pain shooting through his shoulder and his head he willed himself to her. “Kate! Are you there! Is it you again? I have to go your captain is regaining..…” He looked at Stanton walking across the floor in a zombie like state. Placing Kate gently to the floor he disappeared again.
Stanton walked to the wall of his office and slammed his shoulder into the wall until he felt it jam back in place. It was still sore as hell, but he could move his arm. He walked across the room back to where Kate lay quietly. She has just stirred a tempest in a tea kettle, and for all of it simply lay innocently on the floor. She had no scars on her but her body looked spent. Something had used this woman, and thrown her away like garbage. He walked over and replicated a tray of cold water and a cloth. Kate had told Stanton earlier that he didn't understand Drak. That he was a 'small human' trying to understand a larger game. He doused the cloth and began dabbing it on her forehead. What she didn't understand is that he didn't need to understand the Drak. He only needed to understand her. Whether she liked the idea or not they needed each other. He knew she had a mission of her own but she needed him to complete it. "I hope whoever did this is listening." Stanton finally said quietly. "I don't know who you are, but I'm cutting these stings if its the last thing I do. So expect to be short one puppet."

Her eyes flinched under her eye lids; Kate felt something wet, something cold. She felt the cold thing gently pressed on her forehead. She opened her eyes and saw Stanton with a tray and a cloth on hand. She pushed him away and she crawled on her back slowly then quickly. Kate was stopped by the bulkhead behind her and following it a surprise expression.
She would like to say that she didn’t remember anything and this all was out of her control. Though she remembered it all clearly; it was her body but she had no power over it or did she?. Kate had great anger towards Stanton for the things he said towards her. After that something swift had snapped from within and took over. It knew it was time to leave, it was time to be on the 'other side'.
Kate stared at Stanton for a while; as if she was in shock and all Kate could say of was, “What did I do……” More of a statement then a question. “Sir, I didn’t mean to hurt you or over step….” What she felt didn't match with what words that rolled out of her lips. Simply she couldn’t explain to him what had happened. Her control kept ‘it’ at bay but it has reared its head and the human had witnessed the mask.
She quickly stood up and looked outside and knew it wasn’t SOL System anymore. “Computer?” She said quickly followed by a soft, “report?” The Sotrila answered “Minor damage to the starboard side. Haul breaches on 8, 9 and 10. Emergency forcefields are up and holding.” Kate swallowed slowly. “Where are we?” The computer curtly said, "Gamma Quadrant."

Location: Captains Ready room
Stanton was touching the cold cloth to her forhead when her eyelids began to twitch. Kate bolted upright knocking the tray out of Stanton's hand. She pushed Stanton away not realizing the damage she had already done. He winced as pain shot through his shoulder. She crawled her her back like a snake slithering away from danger. She was still looking at Stanton when her head tapped the bulkhead with a 'thud'. She looked more surprised by that action than anything else that had gone on in the last few moments. She was still blinking her eyes to full consciousness. When she finally looked around the office. It was as if a natural disaster occurred in that confined space. His desk was still firmly implanted in the wall. The chairs were topled over and the things he had on his desk were all over the floor.
"What did I do?.." Was all she said. It wasn't a question, but a statement of disbelief. She scanned the room as if she were assessing the damage to the warp drive after a battle. Then it happened. The anger inside her had finally subsided, and her emerald eyes showed some small hint of regret. Not even that the casual observer would notice. It was as if she were going to great lengths to hide it. "Sir, I didn't mean to hurt you or overstep..." Her voice trailed off. She was looking for words that would not come. Kate was a proud woman. She'd never apologized or regretted any action she ever took. Whatever blood she spilled in her lifetime, she done with reckless abandon. Revelling in her power, and the weakness of her opponents. What happened in the office was not a surprise to her, but it was personal. It was the same look you might get from an addict that you caught using their drug.
She walked over to the viewport looking surpised. "Computer?" She questioned. "report?" She said softly. "Minor Damage to starbaord side. Hull breeches on 8,9, and 10. Emergency forcfields are up and holding." Kate began to look more unerved than she had during this whole affair. "Where are we?" She finally asked. "Gamma Quadrant." The computer replied.
Most commanders would be grateful to have the problem resolved. Stanton wasn't most commanders. He saw these 'Drak' interferring with his business yet again. It would have been one thing for him to ask for the help. It was another push his ship around like neptune across the sea. Stanton looked at Kate. She stared at the viewport not daring to turn to face him. Stanton was in the ready room on his knees. He got to his feet but it took a substantial effort. His tunic was torn and dirty. He moved across the room slowly. As he did he reminded himself that though she didn't realize it, Kate too was a victim in this.
He reached her spun her around to face him. He looked at her getting exactly what he though he would get. She was expressionless. She lived in a world of denial. She saw humans as weak willed people easily fooled, easily distracted, and he was sure that manipulating the weak was a way to deny her own lack of control. He allowed himself something he hadn't for his entire time with his fiery drak officer. He allowed himself to address her as a person instead of a tool he needed himslf. He let his fingers glide across her cheek gently. The pain his he should was so great that his hand trembled in the act. "Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate," He said in a calm warm tone. "but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us." He continued. "Are you alright?" He finally asked. An odd question considering he got the worst of things, at least on the surface. "I'm not going to ask you what happened." He added. "I don't think it's an answer you are ready to give nor am I ready to hear." He stated still looking into her eyes. "But I do need to know if you are alright?"

Location: Sickbay (prior to Kate's ship movements)
As the crew in Sickbay dispersed, Patton retrieved his gear and returned to his mother; he hugged her again. The symptoms of the migraine finally dissipating. He looked back into her eyes, still not able to talk about his dreams, or even fully state what happened. "We never talk about our nightmares, you know what Dad always says...." He sighed, as he realized that he said 'says', and corrected himself "… said, anyhow…" his constitution held his emotions in check, as much as would be possible.
Rubbing his temples, he looked at Ann "I don't know what happened though Ma… Ma'am… Bah." He shook his head, and continued "I was walking down the corridor, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my head, and before I knew it, I was on my knees. It was as if someone had thrown me into the warp core, and took a dilethium crystal and clapped me on both ears at the same time. Worse yet, it wasn't as if the sound came from somewhere that I could block out, but it felt as it if was coming from inside my head…" Patton shook his head again.
His duty focus failing, he clasped his hands on Ann's arms again… "I thought you were dead… I thought you were on the base with Dad went it went up… I hadn't heard from you… last I talked to him he said he thought you were going to be there to meet me when we docked for a visit…" Patton struggled to hold it together. He saw how Ann's face squirmed a bit, and his eyes widened "Holy hell! You didn't know?!"
The walked towards a biobed to sit down to continue their conversation. "I got to tell you too, I lost my temper already aboard this Ship; even worse than is tolerable for a CRV Storm Trooper…" he let out an embarrassed sigh "It was like a loathing from the bones, a hatred and anger flashed so quickly I couldn't even attempt to control it. This woman just wouldn't let up on Dad, and my body just instantly went into an 'attack mode'…" his face blushed in a fair show of embarrassment "I drew the weapon you gave me, on The Bridge for God's sakes, and that woman had some bladed weapon that looked just as horrific as mine did. It was like there was a built in hatred, and it took every ounce of control that you and Dad ever 'beat into my head', not to mention what the CRV trained me in."
Patton still felt tired from his ordeal, and knew he had to return to his duties soon; but having Ann aboard was important for countless reasons.

Ann’s eyes watered slightly as she listened to her son looked upon her and said, " We never talk about our nightmares, you know what Dad always says...." Patt sighed, as he realized that he said ' says', and corrected himself " … said, anyhow…" She could see her Samuel clearly in their son...the strength to keep composure held strong. Patt continued to say, " I don't know what happened though Ma… Ma'am… Bah." She softly clasped Patt's face, " I was walking down the corridor, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my head, and before I knew it, I was on my knees. It was as if someone had thrown me into the warp core, and took a dilethium crystal and clapped me on both ears at the same time. Worse yet, it wasn't as if the sound came from somewhere that I could block out, but it felt as it if was coming from inside my head…" Ann’ knew what he was feeling…or at least how Pat was experiencing it. It was different for every 'Drak' and hybrid…its about this age that he would be having the Walking Dreams ( an intuitive knowledge of his parents memories). This Walking Dream would be mixed in with Pat’s own memories which would be hard for him to distinguish. His duty focus failing, he clasped his hands on Ann's arms again… " I thought you were dead… I thought you were on the base with Dad went it went up… I hadn't heard from you… last I talked to him he said he thought you were going to be there to meet me when we docked for a visit…" She said with a hint of guilt…thinking to her self ‘If I hadn’t left Samuel could be still alive’. “Patt, I’m sorry but I left a day or two before all this...” Patton struggled to hold it together. He saw how Ann's face squirmed a bit, and his eyes widened " Holy hell! You didn't know?!" Ann’ was till grasping the idea what Samuel being dead…harder to hear it from their son’s lips. “Your Captain told me". She whispered. They walked towards a Bio-bed to sit down to continue their conversation. " I got to tell you too, I lost my temper already aboard this Ship; even worse than is tolerable for a CRV Storm Trooper…" She snapped out of her grief for a moment, " It was like a loathing from the bones, a hatred and anger flashed so quickly I couldn't even attempt to control it. This woman just wouldn't let up on Dad, and my body just instantly went into an 'attack mode'…" She wanted to ask who this woman was but Ann’ didn’t want Patt to stop speaking. " I drew the weapon you gave me, on The Bridge for God's sakes, and that woman had some bladed weapon that looked just as horrific as mine did. It was like there was a built in hatred, and it took every ounce of control that you and Dad ever 'beat into my head', not to mention what the CRV trained me in." Patton still felt tired from his ordeal, and knew he had to return to his duties soon; but having Ann aboard was important for countless reasons. “Who is this woman? What is her name?” Ann’ asked with a hint of anger of her concern face. She understood in Patt’s response he did the right thinking…well in the Drak way. She knew that Samuel wouldn’t have wanted Patt to have done this act but it was still a very 'male' Grant thing ( and you know it!). Actions frist then questions/or understanding of the situation later. All of the sudden she could feel a presents of her own kind…a ‘Drak’. She wanted to spring to her feet and hunt this woman down…it was ether her son safety or what Samuel wanted her to do. If he was alive would he grant her to engage and kill this woman on a Starfleet Ttar’Veck? Would this be an example to give their son? She waited for a brief moment which felt like minutes for her. “There was this woman that came on the USS Terrasect…were your father and I met”. Ann’ rambled a loud with a mixture of thought… “Kate". she said. The starship rumbled and felt it was moving…Ann’ could feel an IG Aperture was being opened. This was more of an internal feeling only she and that 'woman' could feel. It’s a feeling that ‘Draks’ with high Drak-cell count can experience. She knew that they weren’t in Kansas anymore… “Patton? I think its time to go to your ship’s Command Deck. Something is different…” Location: USS Sotrila, Sickbay. Gamma Quadrant Tags: ’Patt’

"I'm not frightened of the darkness of anyone nor of my own." She said clearly but the the end, “I don’t have a light….” Kate mumbled towards him. A tear manage to escape and fall down her cheek. Having that happening was the first embarrassment she had ever had. Kate didn’t stop or hide it away from Stanton as it was to late and there was no point. “I’m not alright.” She firmly looked towards him, “What help can you give to a soul that no longer carries a light?” She slowly moves her arm up against the hand that he has on her. the Drak technology folds out slowly and she heals Stanton. A glow emanates from the palm and his body slowly regenerates.
Kate makes sure that it happens slow to not shock his system. “You can’t help what’s already lost.” She said. “Your walking down a path that will only take your own light away.” This was the thin part of her humanity speaking, “Save yourself if not you, then the crew. I’m not worth your pity”

"I'm not frightened of the darkness of anyone nor of my own." She said clearly but then the end in a softer tone, “I don’t have a light….” When the tear ran down her cheek Stanton caught it with the index finger of his other hand. It was the first time she allowed him to see even a hint of vulnerability. "I'm not alright." She finally admitted. She in a voice that was no longer the strong, angry defiant drak shell. “What help can you give to a soul that no longer carries a light?” She said in a tone of firm defeat. She took the hand that was gently stroking her cheek softly. Stanton could feel himself being healed but it was different from the first time. This time it seemed more ...intimate. It wasn't as if she was healing him as much as taking his pain and in return giving him some of her own anguish. He could feel the suppression of rage, and the feelings of helplessness and imprisonment in that one act. "You can't help what's already lost." She said looking on him. She seemed to be finding warmth in his gaze. It was something that seemed to compel her beyond her normal armor. "You're walking down a path that will only cloud your own light." She spoke to him in earnest. "Don't go any further into my darkness. Save yourself." She warned. "If you don't do it for yourself then do it for your crew. I"m not worth your pity."
Stanton knew this was a warning. It wasn't because Kate was afraid of herself. She knew that the thing that was controlling her had 'noticed' him. It was spoken once in any words by her. He was sure that was because it would only endanger him more. She had shown enough caring for him to warn him away, but what she didn't realize is that would only bolster his resolve. "Kate," He said equaling the warmth in her voice. "I care abut you enough not to insult you with pity." He looked on her respect more so than he had ever had. "I understand your words and the meaning behind them, but what I want you to know is that I know more what I'm up against than you think. Remember, I have met Ann." He said allowing himself a moment of personal feelings. "This isn't about saving you as much as 'freeing' you. Not freeing you physically, but spiritually. You have a history behind you. Humanity has been fighting oppression since the beginning of our very existence. I know under that armor pumping that drak blood lies a human heart. One that will fight till its dying breath for its freedom. You may reject it today, but it hasn't abandoned you. I know that because whomever that young man was that attempted to save me wasn't here for me. He was here for you. If you were the cold heartless puppet you pretend to be you wouldn't have people caring about you." He said then smiled. "And despite your formidable ego, its not just about your sexual prowess. But seriously, there's nothing in your darkness that frightens me. It doesn't frighten me because I have seen your light, and its brighter than you could ever imagine."

Location: Gamma Quadrant, Unknown, USS Sotrila, Deck 2
Haemis’s eyes burst open as he startled awake from sleep. He was on the floor of his room again. This was not the first time he had slept and found himself in another place if not in his room in an office or work station of his own. He lay there a moment pondering what it was that he was feeling at the moment. It wasn’t right; he knew that much for sure. Slowly he pushed himself into an upright position. Looking down at both of his hands still flat on the ground he could feel the subtle vibration changes in the hull through the carpeting it was telling enough to him that something was about to happen or had happened.
The alert klaxon began to sounds and the light above the door to his quarters began to pulse proving what his mind, senses and experience working on vessels had already told him. Damage to his vessel had occurred, enough that it vibrated through the hull even if subtly.
Haemis climbed to his feet moving quickly toward his closet simply stepping into the boots and pant legs of his “go time” coveralls not even taking the time to jump into his uniform. He ran his arms through the sleeves of the one piece tunic and ran the zipper up. The shoes auto laced as he strolled toward the door picking up his comm. Badge and tool kit as he went. But he stopped just as the door to his quarters slid open. He looked back toward his bedroom realizing something was missing.
“Engineering to McTavish!”
He reached up and slapped his comm. Badge as he moved quickly toward the turbolift. “McTavish, Go!”
“We’ve got multipule hull breaches throughout decks 8, 9 and 10 all along the starboard side of the ship, a few blown power relays and we appear to be venting atmosphere from those decks at a somewhat slow rate despite having closed off the breaches with emergency force fields.” His assistance voice calmly called through the open channel.
Haemis stepped onto the turbolift. “Understood, were we struck by something in port? Another vessel?”
“No sir, and were somehow not in port anymore. All the external supports went offline as soon as the incident occurred. I checked the sensors were in space!”
“Bloody ell!” he took a moment to think. “Didn ya close off our support valves and feeds for the moorn’s?”
There was a pause for a few moments. “No, I just did it appears not all the automatic cuts off’s engaged. That’s odd if we disconnected right they would have shut down automatically.”
“Aye!” Haemis said in a somber sort of way his mind playing out the scenario in his head. “Were still connected lad!”
“What?”
“Dispatch Repair Teams, get us some crew set up to EVA, were gonna have to probably go a walk’n to yank out some pipe I suspect.” he leaned against the back wall and ran a hand through his hair. “Deck 10!” he called to the computer. “I’ll be on deck 10 near the primary airlock. Keep an eye on our structural integrity field’s and dispatch damage control teams as ye see fit.”
“Aye sir,” the comm. Channel beeped closed.
Haemis stepped out onto deck ten and began walking down the corridor toward the vessel’s primary gangway airlock which is typically where all the crew could physically move on or off the ship while the vessel was docked. As he rounded the corner he was surprised to see a group of Starfleet officers milling about the airlock and the crackling force field which was positioned over the still open doors to the airlock. “Ach!” he muttered as he quickly approached.
“Chief!” one of them said as he spotted his approach. “What the hell happened?”
“Get to yer bloody stations! Don ya know its not bloody safe!”
“Safe?” a woman said, “I nearly got sucked out that thing!”
Haemis turned and was about to make another remark but stopped short as he came into full view of the airlock. The gangway from the starbase was still hanging out there, connected to the ship. Down at the other end it appeared to be just simply sliced off, he couldn’t tell if there was any thermal effects damage or not but it was there. “Get to yer stations!” he said once again this time adding a bit more authority to his words.
The footsteps off others came up rapidly behind him from the direction of the turbolift. “Hey chief,” one of his engineering staff said as they came to stand next to him peering down the gangway that used to connect the vessel to the space station. “Wow!”
“Indeed.” Haemis said. “Start staging some hull patches and a portable airlock to come up here.” His eyes were walk around the frame of the large airlock. “If we canna shut this were gonna have to seal it if not temporarily.” He moved over toward the controls next to the large airlock and attempted to call up the display to no avail.
“Aye sir,” he quickly ran off back down the corridor.
Haemis set down his tool box and knelt down below it pulling a panel off the wall. What he found was not promising, the primary control circuit was fried and he could feel a slight breeze coming from in the panel as if air was quickly bleeding away. “Ach!” he spat again. He pulled open the top of his tool box, and reached inside pulling out a tricordor, rubber chicken, some sort of vile of clear liquid, a deck of playing cards, a Phillips head screw driver, an old integrated circuit board, an magnetic driver, and then finally a servo actuator. Brushing all the junk aside into a pile he quickly began disconnecting what he could of the damaged control circuit.
“What is all this chief?” the other engineering officer asked as she stood there behind him watching him go to work.
“Junk!” he said reaching back into the box now pulling out a small field sewing kit, a canteen, a small pipe and then a ODN Joining tool to which he went to work on severing the ODN lines to the control circuit. “Pick up that Tricorder and see if it works would ya!” he said as he peered further into the opening.
She bent down and opened the device. “Has not been charged in a long while but it still seems to function!” she said as she ran the device through a quick self check. “Jesus this is an old version!”
“Aye,” he said as he reached back out and picked up the magnetic driver and began to remove the control circuit from its mounting’s. “Scan the bulkhead and find the leaks, make sure were not going to have further complications here!”
The device in her hand began trilling as it began its scan. She slowly began to move around the airlock with the device. “Chief!” she said in somewhat alarmed tone.
“Yeah, what is it ensign!” he said as he slowly came out of the hole in the wall.
“Chief there is a large amount of stress being put on the airlock!”
“What do you me…” he glanced up at her and then peered out the airlock. “Bloody ell, were mov’n!” he quickly slammed the lid on the tool box and paused his own face flushing a bit white as a loud metallic groan ran through the corridor and through his feet. “GO!” he yelled and began running down the corridor toward the next junction. “Computer!” he nearly was yelling. “Erect force fields around all section on deck nine, ten and eleven! Close all Air tight doors!” he turned and stopped as the two of them reached the corridor junction.
The sound of force fields popping on and all around them rang out as well as the sound of the air tight doors moving shut.
Haemis reached up and struck his badge again. “McTavish to Engineering”
“I’m still here boss!” came his assistant’s voice.
“Increase structural integrity and…”
“Already done, it’s not helping with the gangway stuck to the airlock. And we just tried disconnecting it from the ship.”
“Ach!” he hit is badge again his voice was insistent and rushed. “McTavish to the Captain, Stop the bloody ship, Stop it no…” the horrendous sound of metal shearing and the hull stressing drowned out his voice, the lights flickered in the section and the floor moved hard under his feet causing him to drop his tool box and steady himself.

“Who is this woman? What is her name?” Patton found it interesting, not that his mother asked the question, but with the intensity she asked it. "A Commander Photan. She was the Ship's XO before Captain Stanton confused the hell out of everybody, me included, by removing her and promoting me to the position." He paused and shook his head in dismay "I'm a Trooper Ma'am, not a command officer like Dad was. My guess is it's some 'pity party' someone's throwing me from Dad's… Well… The current situation." He still refused to fully address what had happened.
Patton raised an eyebrow "The Terrasect… ? That was his first assignment after his scapegoating that almost through him out of Starfleet…" His anger rose some, he recalled the story that he'd been told, and the files he'd read. Damn Starfleet Brass and Brat… He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He wasn't sure what he had been thinking about, but his mind sharpened quickly when she mentioned the name 'Kate'. His mind raced to try and figure out why that name caused such a reaction. He recalled somethings/stories about her, but his mind couldn't sort out the details at the moment; likely it was due to fatigue from his ordeal.
When the ship lurched, it too Patton and the Sickbay crew by surprise, the ship lurched and Patton rocked on his legs with the lurch; never losing his footing. "What the hell was that?" Ann looked at him, “Patton? I think its time to go to your ship’s Command Deck. Something is different…” He nodded, grabbed his gear, put on his duster with a swagger that mimicked his father's body language perfectly, he put on a Grant grin and said "Alrighty, let's go see what mess we got into now." He motioned towards the door "After you Ambassador…"
After a quick turbo lift trip, they arrived on The Bridge. Not seeing the Captain on The Bridge, his duty kicked in quickly "I'm assuming command of the Conn. Status report? What happened?" He activated communications "Captain Stanton to The Bridge please."

“You may have met Ann’Knox but you don’t know her.” Kate said in a way that she clearly knew much more then the Captain. “As much as you think my light is bright, her is blinding; she can gather entire hordes of legions with a suggestion of distress. The loyalty that she radiates is nothing I can gather.” She did hear Stanton mentioned Ben and she ignored him by not acknowledging the truth. Kate did think inwardly and wondered why Ben appeared and risk showing himself.
Kate felt that she needed to explain Ben to wish the thought out the captain’s mind. Both knew that Stanton wasn’t a moron but maybe ignorant but never a moron. “The demon in me will show you….. pull from you images that may look real but that isn’t.” Kate heard the comm. chirped a summing to the Command Deck.

“You may have met Ann’Knox but you don’t know her.” Kate said in a special tone. It was a warning yes, but there was a hint more concern in her voice than would be considered casual. “As much as you think my light is bright, her is blinding; she can gather entire hordes of legions with a suggestion of distress. The loyalty that she radiates is nothing I can gather.” She finished. Stanton knew she had purposefully omitted the subject of the unknown stranger. He knew it was for his own protection. Not necessarily a the boy's but Stanton's also. "The demon in me will show you….. pull from you images that may look real but that isn’t.”
Stanton moved himself closer to her. He smiled looking into her eyes knowing that she had fears about human frailty without a knowledge of human strength. He knew that she had so much to learn, if only she would allow him to teach her. This was a class and he had to allow her the room to be curious and ask questions. She even needed room for doubt. Understanding lack of knowledge is the beginning of learning. "I know you are concerned about my well being." He smiled. "You'll never admit it and you will never need to. I know that the only thing you've witnessed from the human race is weakness. At least weakness, by the definition of it that you have learned. I have faced all my demons, so yours have nothing new to show me. They can only show me my own fears, and before I took this command I needed to face those down. Fear begats indecision, and star ship commander can ill afford that." He allowed himself a brief moment let his hand slide down her hair then stepped back. "When I talk about your light," He said still locked on her. "I speak of a light that Ann'Nox could not understand nor access. I speak of the part of you that is human. Its the light inside you that you suppress. It fuels your passion, and compassion. It will be the thing that blazes your heart and makes you realize their are things worth fighting for....dying for that are bigger than the drak empire or the federation of planets. That is when you become a dangerous person. It is something a drak would never understand, but a human lives every day."
He too heard the chime, but was not ready to acknowledge it yet. He knew what happened even if the ship didn't so they could wait a moment longer.
