The Death of the Legacy
Part One
‘The Crash’
A blur of light filled the space, then blackness. Steadily off to an area a light brightens, then a sudden darkness.
Against the skin the ground is smooth with indiscriminate patches of roughness. The stillness of the freezing air
filling a cylindrical cavity with one single massive portal.
This portal showed a magnificent sight to behold. In high orbit of a massive planet with vibrant hues of blues,
greens, and saturated warm colors. Brilliant pulses of solid light discharge from below, upwards in to the celestial heavens
and towards the darkness.
In deep space the stars were dimming, the blackest contagious and creeping towards the pearl globe underneath.
Spires in irregular patters with one massive spire in the center plummets through the atmosphere.
Dropping straight in to the crystal green oceans through the eastern continental shelf, deep in to the planet.

Kate slowly opened her eyes and found herself on the ground. She heard nothing, likely in result from a deafening explosion from a station console. Against her fingers she could feel bits of burnt rubble, torn melted metal and she could smell burnt flesh. She pushes off the floor to lift her ass back on her feet, where she stood on uneven ground. Unbalance and still dizzy from whatever that cause her to drop. Kate’s first thoughts wasn’t of Benjamin but of Stanton, her feelings raced filled of worry and fear of the worst.
The command deck was black with sporadic flickering of light and a steady blinking red glow. Her eyes hasn’t fully focused just yet but she tried to look about the room. Seeing who was dead and who was still of use but she only saw slumped bodies over consoles and beneath her feet. Kate moved a personnel as if he was a sleep, she didn’t want to harm or disrespect the body. So she laid him down gently on the ground, then moved towards the controls.
She needed to know the status of the Sotrila but gradually realized she wasn’t on her ship! Kate found herself on the USS Harbinger; the starship that was to escort them to a Starbase but in reality to help bring the USS Legacy back to Earth. The vessel was crippled beyond repair, the Harbinger was obviously attacked by an unknown assailant and not from a Starfleet vessel. Kate worked to reline some shit of a sensors to look for her ship, the Sotrila.
Kate couldn’t get what she needed from the damn derelict starship. She leaves the bridge and on down to the shuttlebay in hopes to find a useful shuttle. Along the way she passed viewports and saw her Sotrila. It was still intact but seemed to be at drift, it didn’t seem to have been as damaged as the Harbinger. She could hear moaning and personnel screaming for help. She knew she couldn’t save all of them but pulled and carried those she knew who would survive from whatever wounds. She manage to reach the Main Shuttlebay where it oddly seem untouched. She pulled the ones that were unable to walk and encourage those who can to hurry on board. Once she had managed to bring who she could she powered the craft and fired it’s phasers through the shuttlebay doors. Kate reached the Sotrila but needed to manually open their shuttlebay door from the outside, which had to be done by her special ‘Drak’ means. When she got inside and landed the shuttle she pressurized and left the Harbinger crew to leave the craft by their own means. While she went off to the Command Deck to look for her ‘crew’ and Stanton.

Post by Haemis McTavish on Apr 25, 2015 19:59:24 GMT -5
Haemis sat bolt upright, his head deflecting off to one side violently and suddenly as it met with the underside of the master situations console. His head was already screaming in pain and this certainly didn't help, stars exploded before his eyes and pain shot through him. He met the ground once again, the world swimming.
“Chief!”
He could hear someone call his name, it sounded like it was under water but at least he was still conscious. “Aye.” He muttered still lying flat on his back.
“Chief, I think my wrist is broken!” it was clearly a woman’s voice calling to him from very nearby.
His eyes slowly fluttered open, the world was still swimming around him but his eyes slowly began to focus. He realized he was partially under one of the consoles. He could taste blood in his mouth, and as his head lolled to one side he could see a puddle of it under a gold and black blob. “Are you bleeding?” he asked as he slowly rolled to his side trying to get out from under the console this time before sitting upright.
“Uh…chief, I think my wrist is broken!” the voice was more clear, and shaking.
His eyes slowly began to focus, the young woman was sitting up against the power distribution console, and her head had a huge bump and cut which was still trickling blood. She was holding her arm staring at it. There was a nasty compound fracture in her forearm, the bone was sticking out and she was bleeding steadily from the wound. “It’s going to be alright Lieutenant!” he said taking note of her rank. He couldn’t recall ever having seen her aboard before. But at the moment it didn't matter. He reached up and tapped his Comm badge. “Engineering to Sickbay, medical emergency in main engineering!” he stated steadily.
There was a loud thump from behind him which caused him to turn abruptly, his vision swam but it snapped back into focus. His assistant had likewise slammed his head into the bottom of the master situations console. He didn’t seem to get back up from his ordeal. Haemis shook his head, and slowly used the master situations console to pull himself back up to his feet.
“Sickbay here, were sending a team but its going to take some time. The turbolift system is down chief, if you could get that up and running that would be a big help. We’ve got injuries all over the ship!”
“Aye, we’ll get her work’n as quickly as we can, thank ye. Engineering out!” he slowly steadied himself on his feet and took the few strides over toward the emergency medical kit on the wall and pulled it off nearly loosing his footing. As he turned he could see that nearly his entire staff was still out cold. Some were starting to come too. “Alright las,” he slowly moved back over and settled back down next to her on the floor. “Let’s see what we can do about this.” He pulled out a hypospray and set a vial of pain reliever and pressed the device to the woman’s neck. “That’s a good las.” he set aside the hypospray and then pulled the tricorder from the kit and slowly started running it over her.
“Chief, my wrist!”
“I know las, tis broken!” he nodded and loaded another ampule and gave her an injection to help with the concussion and to keep her calm. “Sit tight, help is on the way!” he stood back up slowly his head was still ringing but his eyes were less the problem. A few of his people were also on their feet but disoriented. “Oye!” he said somewhat loudly even for himself but it had the desired effect they all looked his way or moved to see him. “We’ve got a bloody lot of work to do! Get me system status reports now!” he barked. “Help yer fellow as they come to! Or check those that are not and then get to work.”
He leaned heavy on the master situations console, his fingers playing across it bringing it to life. He began trying to coax the last few hour sensor logs out of the computer to see if they could figure out what happened. Something he feared and that a lot of engineers often feared. The prompt was answered by a default response from the computer. The kind of default response that a brand new ship’s computer would. “Focàil leat!” he spat staring at the prompt.
“Chief?” a voice called from the floor.
“Aye?” he said peering around the edge of the console at his assistant.
The young man was staring up at him. “What happened?”
He shook his head slowly. “I haven’t the foggiest! But tis not good lad, are you good?”
“No, I think I will just lie here for a bit longer!” he said, his eyes were clearly still trying to find focus.
He grinned. “Aye, you do that laddie!” he turned his attention back to the prompt on the screen in front of him. He ran his hands across the console once more trying to prompt the computer to come alive the way it should but it still stared back at him asking who it was. He let out a deep sigh and quickly entered the ships information from his own memory and executed the prompt. He watched as a quickly diagnostic flew by on the screen and when the system memory came alive the ships based burned in data was there but everything else was empty. All the data accept what the ships automation and what is needed for the ship to function fresh out of dock was present. There were no logs, no sensor data nothing. It was all gone.
Location: USS Storila, Main Engineering
TAG: All.
OOC: So think of the ships computer as if it was brand new having just been installed and brought online. No system updates, no nothing. Just base code so the ship functions both as normal and on automation. The ships primary data centers are completely blank. Just to clarify, so that you know the ship still works as intended.

Madalyn ran down the long green hill full of knee high grass, the bees were closing in on her. She could hear there incessant buzzing, getting louder and louder as she ran. It seemed that she would never get away from them. A new sound greeted her like falling rain in the distance began to grow into the sound of rushing water. Her lungs were pumping, burning even as she ran for her life.
She burst through a bit of brush and tree and came to a very sudden stop at the edge of a precipice. Not far below was a rushing river full of angry rapids rolling and boiling angrily at her. She could hear the buzzing getting closer and closer. Glancing behind herself she realized it was the water or the bees.
She let out a squeal as she leapt into the water.
Her eyes snapped open as she realized she was submerged in water and her lungs screamed for oxygen she came out of the water spewing water coughing and spitting. She gasped several times before finally realizing that she was in her bathtub in her quarters though she could not remember how she got there. The tub was overflowing onto the floor of the bathroom, it appeared to have been going on slowly for some time. She could feel the obvious bruises on her ribs and her head where she had clearly landed when she passed out.
Slowly she pulled herself from the tub trying the water valves which did not seem to work. The air was cold on her naked body, she moved through the room and into her bedroom grabbing a robe as she went. Finding her way to her Comm badge she hit the device. “Madalyn to Engineering!”
“Engineering here!” came avoid over the speaker.
“I appear to have a malfunctioning water valve and the drain isn’t working there is water everywhere.” She glanced around her room noting that the carpet was soaked all the way throughout the room.
“Understood Ms. Price, we will get a team there as soon as we can. Systems are down all over the ship and they take priority. We’ll see if we can cut the water to that area if possible. Thank you for reporting in.”
“Thank you, any idea what happened?”
“No ma’am,” there was the sound of shouting from the open channel. “Gotta go, we’ll get up there as soon as we can Ms. Price. Engineering out!” the channel abruptly closed.
She started pulling on a jumpsuit slowly, her ribs ached. She was sure they were not broken but perhaps they needed help in sickbay. She started off toward the ships sickbay, her head was still buzzing.

White hot spires of pain lanced into Mehrunissa's head and as if she'd been struck by lightning, she dropped unconscious to the deck of the bridge. Sounds around her were muffled, except for the thick sea ice above her head that groaned and creaked on the verge of breaking apart. She was suspended under the ice. She floated there until the susurrations around her gradually became more discernable.
"What happened?"
Had she voiced the question or had she only thought it? She cracked one eye open then shut it again against the onslaught of light.
"Am I alright?"
No, that wasn't right.
"Are you alright?", someone was asking.
"I don't know."she croaked. She cleared her throat and tried again.
"I may have hit my head. What happened?"
Yes, this time it was her own voice that asked the question.
"We don't know yet, Ma'am."
The voice that answered her was female. A hand touched her forehead.
"I don't see any injuries, commander. Lie still. Medical personnel are on their way."
Mehrunissa wasn't going to argue. She didn't have the strength to. She let her mind drift again into that blue-green calm sea.

Haemis’s head was still pounding away as his fingers danced over the console in front of him, he was racing against the rest of the crew essentially going through the basic setup information he could remember from memory. It was a matter of avoiding someone inputting something the wrong way at this point as it would take four times as long to undo later. The last prompt scrolled by and the monitors all around them suddenly came alive starting to run first runtime programs and subroutines. “Done!”
A young woman’s head peered around the wall just down the way from him, her hair was silhouetted by the darkened Warp core that was still down. “Chief, we’ve got reports coming in from all over the ship, mostly minor damage or malfunctions.” Ensigns Peers called out who was basically playing the damage control hub while the computer was being brought back alive.
He nodded and looked up as the master situations console started to come alive and show what likely the ensign’s information reflected. “Good lass, now tis a matter of picking our battles!”
“We’ve got one of those in the mess hall, looks like a fire broke out but was contained. The Fire suppression system just put out the remaining fires but it looks like a mess.” Antwan his assistant said who now managed to get back up to at least a sitting position, “In other good news, the turbolift’s are starting to come back online!”
“Good!” Haemis shifted in his chair holding his head for a moment and rubbing at his temples. “Well at least we have the computer back, though unsecure. It’s back online.” He stood up and worked his way around the console. “We can work on that bloody mess later!”
“Where should we start next?” his assistant asked watching him intently.
“Let’s make sure that fire is secure, and anything that is vital to life support to start.” He stopped and leaned slowly over eyeing something that caught his attention. “The Phaser relays have been used and abused it would seem, several relays are burned out. The bloody computer core seems to have the same problem!” he scowled at the screen. “The two things next to the warp drive that utilize the most power on board.” He shifted uneasy.
“What are you thinking chief?”
“I’m thinking Lad that we had an overload of some sort and we shunted the power into or through those systems to save the ship.” He stood back up. “Would explain a wee bit.” He slowly moves across the room stopping and propping himself up against the wall for a moment. His stomach churned. “But why canna I remember do’n it?” he mutters closing his eyes.
“You alright chief?”
“No!” the lean became heavier until he slowly slipped down the wall into a sitting position on the floor. “Just need a moment!” His assistant rushed over to help but he was already sitting, it was an ease to the ground so nothing too dramatic.
“Want me to call the doc?”
“Ach! No, just need a minute!” he closed his eyes for a long moment trying to bring back his focus. His head was pounding, it just wouldn’t stop.
“You sure chief?”
“Aye,” he opened his eyes and stared back up at his assistance. “Antwan, get me my bloody kit! We’ve got work to do!” his voice passed on a bit of annoyance.
His assistant eyed him for a long moment then did as he was told moving off to storage locker, coming back a moment later with the kit. “Where are you off too chief?”
“Going to get a closer look at those bloody phaser relay’s!” he said as he slowly pulled himself back to his feet. “I want you to continue to coordinate the repair teams here, once you’ve got them sorted head to the computer core and start in on the power relays there.” He started slowly for the doors.
“Aye sir.” His assistant stood there a moment as he watched him leave. As soon as the doors shut he hit his Comm Badge. “Engineering to Sickbay!”
“Were a little busy down here Lieutenant, is it urgent?” called a hurried voice over the speaker.
“No,” he started then stopped. “Well maybe.” He frowned internally a moment. “Something’s wrong with the chief. I’m a bit worried, could you send someone to check on him when you have someone free?”
“Sure, as soon as we can Mr. Lejune, Sickbay out!” the channel closed before he could continue.

“Get on your feet boy!” came a distant, yet present sound.
There it was again, with an odd echo to it. Patton found himself looking around, and locked eyes with a man standing over him. His Starfleet uniform was burned and tattered, and the man wearing it was obviously injured; but that didn’t remove any of the strength from The Man himself.
“Damn it, on your feet soldier; attend your duty! Never let them find you wanting!” the voice shouted again.
Patton tried to rise, and felt pain throughout his body. He felt stinging and burning pains all over his chest and side, and had to blink several times to clear the blood from his right eye. Pain or not, he slowly began to rise. A quick ‘self check’ advised him that nothing seemed broken, but he had a good handful of injuries. “One thing at a time…” he murmured. From a position of being on all fours, he reached up to help lift himself up, and found that a hand had been offered to him, which he gratefully took.
Once on his feet, he was eyes to eyes with the source of the voice shouting at him. Standing before him was his father, Admiral Samuel Joshua Grant, Starfleet Security, Crisis Response Vessel (CRV) Fleet. Patton found himself lost for words, both happy to see his father again, and yet immediately concerned that he looked so injured, he’d obviously been near a battle… or a fire… or… an explosion.
Patton tried to gather his thoughts and say something, but he found himself speechless. Sam placed his hands on Patton’s shoulders, and said “Only in death, does duty end; Son.” Patton’s eyes blinked, and Sam was gone.
He found himself holding onto a Bridge Station, and he felt heat all around him. He shook his head to clear his head, and to focus his thoughts and his body, and regretted it almost immediately. What his eyes did see was a seen of carnage. His mind raced back to where he was, and he knew he was aboard the Sotrila and was on The Bridge. But there were fires everywhere, and there were wiring and conduits hanging from fallen ceiling and blown out stations, and there were casualties.
He looked towards the Captain’s Ready Room, and debris had collapsed on it and there was signs of an active fire from inside, and there was no way for him to get there right now; he knew his duty. It was to the Ship first. Asking aloud, to anyone present, “Status report! What the hell happened?!”
Patton began checking the wounded and dead as well, and they were legion…

Post by Grab Foot Of~Two Dawns on May 2, 2015 14:06:45 GMT -5
Grabfoot slowly regained consciousness. He heard a groan then realized it came from him. Thoughts, feelings, memories began to slowly return. One of the first things he noticed is he felt light, as if he were floating in air. As he opened his eyes a little, he realized that he actually was floating. Gravity must have been disabled, he thought then he noticed the buzzing in his head. He had heard some people describe a buzzing in their heads the morning after they had binged on alcohol consumption.
He knew that wasn't the case because he hardly ever consumed alcohol. He tried to get an internal sensor readings, through the neural link he shared with the main computer aboard Thunder, to find out what had happened. No readings came to him so he tried external sensors. Again, no readings. "The Neural link has been severed", he muttered to himself, explaining the buzz in his head and would also explain that the computer's main frame and programming could have been corrupted. "Back to square one" He muttered with displeasure. First thing's first though, he would have to get the basic functions of the ship re- calibrated first. glancing out a view port, he would spot the Sotrila a couple thousand kilometers to starboard, looking like she was adrift. He wondered if they were still alive.
With his tail, he guided himself to a console and began getting life support, communications and the neural link re-established. First thing he felt he had to do is make sure he wasn't alone, wherever he is.

The light of consciousness began to seep into the darkness of unconsciousness. As her body began to awaken, her mind wondered what had happened to put her in such a state. It would have to be something big, her mind reasoned.
Flashes of memory floated through her mind, standing at tactical when this massive.. wormhole? black hole? She wasn't sure. She tried to get some readings but there wasn't enough time before they were engulfed and blackness. She knew her father's ship and some other ship, the name of which eludes her at the moment, was flanking the Sotrila when the portal opened and all three ships were swallowed whole.
Her body then began to feel. She felt warm, as if in a cocoon. Like she was lying in her mother's arms late at night when she was much younger. No, not the woman who sired me, the woman who eventually raised me and took care of her and father, her mind concluded. She then noticed a pesky buzzing sensation on her side and chest. She groaned, more out of irritation then out of pain. Her eyes fluttered open and the first thing she noticed is that her left hand sitting on a burning piece of debris. That would explain the warm cocoon-y feeling, she mused. She lifted her hand, perused it, and thought it looked fine, no burn marks. She turned her attention to the rest of her, what uniform she had on was in shreds, what fur she had is now gone. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to be embarrassed or what.. her Eeiauoan side would be mortified, the rest of her didn't really care one way or the other.
The pesky buzzing it seems are from a couple of wires that were still attached to a barely functioning tactical control board. With an irritated grunt, she grabs the wires and pulls them free "Get off me" She said with irritation and threw them someone away from her. That action brought a twinge of pain from a lower body part. She sits up, bringing yet another twinge of pain that had her growling and nearly crying out in pain. Not only were her lower legs peppered with debris but her right ankle had a piece of metal sticking out and through it, the ankle and foot itself nearly severed from her body. "That's gonna leave a mark" she muttered then looked up as someone had came to the bridge. She muttered a growl, as her irritation had just escalated but maybe She should be glad this other person is there?
The other person turned out to be Kate...

Kate was climbing up the Jeffries tubes to get to the command deck as the turbo lifts seem to be out. Halfway up she has realized the lift were online again and she manage to get in to one. Once she arrived on deck one she could seem the damage on the deck. She could see the abomination that was ‘perhaps' her offspring licking after her wound. Kate walked by Jessica and petted her like a household ‘dog’ and checked the on the XO. She offered her hand to a stunned Patton, as he took her hand Kate pulling him up and slowly leaned him on a station. She wasted no time and headed towards the Ready Room to look for Stanton. Nothing would stand in her way not even fallen debris that she effortlessly moved aside.
When she finally got in the room Stanton wasn’t there. She tapped on her combadge, “Captain Briggs? Respond!” She tapped again, “Computer? Where is Captain Stanton Briggs”. The Sotrila’s computer answered, “There is no Stanton Briggs on board.” Kate was bewildered and mouthed, ‘what?’ Kate walked back on to the Bridge and she saw the XO now on his feet and more aware. She watch him say, “Status report! What the hell happened?!” She followed his question but directed her inquiry to Main Engineering, “What the hell is going on with this sodding ship? Chief respond!” Kate stepped over a possible dead body as she was reaching for a 'working' station console. She accessed the status of the vessel and found that the Sotrila had a massive power surge. She knew this couldn’t be from the portal that she induce but something is off. Mostly because why the fuck was she on board the Harbinger and not here and where is the ‘old man’ Briggs.
Kate quickly realized that the vessel is not secure, "All security personnel get off your arses and make a deck by deck sweep." She paused a moment and added, "If anyone finds the Captain call me right away." She would realize once the Sotrila was back to a manageable state that the Captain is truly not on board. From scanning through the data that she saw from the station, she saw that the USS Thunder seems to have a similar situation as them. Once things were secure on board the Sotrila she would order a small team to board her and check if the Admiral Grabfoot was alright.

Haemis grimaced as he passed by a whistling conduit junction, it was sputtering and spitting sparks like a snake snapping at him. It caused stars to explode before his eyes each time it reported and echoed in the Jefferies tube. “Ach!” he snarled as he snatched it mid bounce. Holding it in one hand he used his free hand to find the cut off at the still active power tap. He took only but a moment to twist and pull the line from its housing, and toss it aside.
“Bloody Power surge!” he shook his head making his way down the Jefferies tube.
“Sickbay to Commander McTavish!” the cool calm voice of one of the ships many doctors came over the intercom suddenly and very loudly.
He stopped mid stride hitting his Comm badge. “Aye!” he growled, his teeth set on edge.
There was a slight pause before the response. “How are you doing Mr. McTavish?” the voice echoed in the tube causing his head to pulse.
“Oh bloody well thank you, how are you!” he responded with a mocking tone.
“Your assistant said you might be experiencing some difficulties and asked us to check in with you. Are you certain you’re alright?” she paused. “He was concerned.”
“He won’t be later!” he mumbled under his breath. “Ach! No! I’m fine!” he abruptly closed the channel with a swipe of his hand, not giving the doctor a chance to respond. Taking a moment to compose himself he continued down the tube. His head was pounding but it was slowly starting to subside.
“Ensign Rosen to Commander McTavish!” another voice echoed through the corridor.
He stopped again as his head felt as if it was going to explode very suddenly between the pain and the anger. “What! Bloody what!” he barked.
“Uh…. Chief is everything alright?”
“I swear by the gods.” He let a long string of explicit that were certainly not English but could possibly not have been Gaelic either. “The next person that asks me that is going to get it!”
The Comm channel abruptly closed with a beep.
He stayed there on his hands and knees for a long moment before continuing on his way down the corridor, the pain and throbbing in his head was starting to subside once more.
“Chief respond!” the voice came like a lightning bolt across the sky for Haemis as he was crawling down one of the ships Jefferies tubes. He could just smell the mess down the way from him of what was once a Phaser array power coupling.
He laid his head against the floor of the Jefferies tube for a brief moment hoping it would sooth the throbbing in his head again. After a brief pause he snaked his head over to his Comm Badge. “Aye!” he let out a muffled barked back through the now open channel. It caused his eyes to whence as the loud noise of his own voice caused his head to feel as if someone just hit it with a ball peen hammer. “I’m work’n on it lass! Rome wasn’t bloody built in a bloody day ya know!” he grunted as he came to the junction and his intended destination pulling himself upright. “Ya broke my bloody ship!” he spat holding his head.

Sgt. Major Patton, after finding another dead Bridge Officer, saw other personnel stirring at their posts. “Status Report!” he barked again to anyone and everyone, but there was understandable confusion aboard the ship.
“Bridge to Sickbay. Multiple Critical Medical Emergencies on The Bridge!” Sure the ships medical staff was busy, he also called to his Storm Trooper detachment “Corpsman Tali, report to the Bridge immediately.” There was only the briefest of pauses “Aye Sgt. Mrj.”
Patton knelt down next to the serious injured tactical, and tore the left sleeve from his tunic, and applied it as a tourniquet just above the injured ankle. “Easy Lieutenant,” Patton said in a soothing, yet very authoritative voice, “helps on the way. Just stay here and breathe as normally as possible.” Patton didn’t realize that he shared a uniqueness in common with the Lieutenant, his mind set on his duties and pain himself, and not coming into physical contact with her body.
Patton didn’t hear the first call placed, but he heard the second one “"All security personnel get off your arses and make a deck by deck sweep." She paused a moment and added, "If anyone finds the Captain call me right away." Patton stood back up and tried to activate the tactical console, with little effect. He met eyes with Commander Phontan and found himself arguing within; but as often the case, his duty and training trumped anything else.
“Commander,” he said, multitasking, “get down to Main Engineering and see if you can see what happened and why we’re having such critical failures all over the ship. I’m sure the Chief could use some help, and I’m by no means an engineer.” He tapped a few commands, and continued “Shields are down, weapons off-line, and our structural integrity is compromised… And we have no sensors; so we’re blind.” He looked back up at Kate “Have the Chief get our structural integrity under control first, then shields and deflectors. We don’t have to worry about fighting if we collapse in on ourselves.”
A jeffries tube seal fell down, and out emerged the Corpsman “Reporting as ordered.” Patton directed her to the wounded Lieutenant first, and she began addressing the injuries.
Looking back at the Commander “I’ll try and hold things together here,” a station sparked out at one of the ends of the bridge “try indeed…” He continued to try and work through the tactical station. He had no idea what happened to them, or that there was even another Federation Starship (Thunder) close to them.

Jessica heard the first request for a status report, but her eyes were fixated on the person known as Kate. Why? She wasn't sure. She heard so many stories over the course of her youth, mostly from her father and how he had fallen in love with the Kate person, had one night together and she went and disappeared, never to be seen again, with the stipulation to never try and find her or father would end up dead.
Now the Kate person stood a few feet in front of her. Jessica wasn't sure whether to hug her, hoping for a happy reunion, but then that wouldn't be possible. She thought of slapping her into next month for having treated father in such a manner. Then the idea of giving her such a verbal lashing that she would never forget came to mind.
She decided to do neither. She sat there and looked back to her nearly severed ankle, wondering how to get the metal fragment out without severing the rest of the ankle from her leg. If she severed it, she doubted it could be sown back on, with so many crew injured and medical most likely swamped with dead and more seriously injured crew.
Jessica looked back to Kate as she walked over and simply patted her on the head on her way over to go help Major Patton to his feet. The thought of slapping Kate into next week came back to mind, Jessica nearly throwing a hiss in Kate's direction but she held her action, a thought passing through her mind and she had to blink at the content: Kate may be her biological mother, but first and foremost, she is also a commanding officer.
Jessica was about ready to try and get to her feet with her "good" leg when the call came again for a status report then found that Major Patton had walked over and keep her seated, tearing part of his tunic to try and bandage her injured ankle. She felt a sharp pain go up her leg, and she flinched, as soon as Patton touched her leg above the ankle to wrap it. That and his soothing words to keep calm, and breath normally, irked her a bit. She knew he was trying to keep her calm but she wasn't an infant "Blisters and Sodding Biscuits!" She cursed, trying to sound a bit like Kate "I'm not an infant. You don't have to coddle me or spare any feelings I may have.. sir." Despite her retort, she did feel a bit grateful for the medical assistance that Grant offered.
She looked as Patton stood up and tried to get any response from the Tactical console "Tactical console is pretty well dead, I awoke with some wiring draped over me. What little power there is, could barely rouse a terran mouse." She told him, giving her status report.
She practically jumped out of her skin when a jefferies tube hatch clattered to the deck and out came a medical attendant. When the corpsman came over, she indicated the metal fragment still stuck in her ankle and suggested that be removed first before anything else could be done and told her to be careful, the fragment is the only thing keeping her from losing the ankle entirely.

Grab foot could sense when the life support systems came off standby and into full power mode, the air began to smell more.. oxygenated and he could breath a bit easier.
His weight also shifted to his feet, his feet to the deck when the artificial gravity generators also came to life. Thinking that he got communications online, he tried his luck. He tapped a key and nothing but loud hissing static made him cringe and he couldn't tap the key fast enough to turn it off. He shook his head to clear his head and wished he had an engineer aboard to assist with repairs and then continued his efforts to restore communications.
With more re-tuning and time, he tried again to open a channel. This time, he is met with silence, or rather an open comm link. "USS Thunder to USS Sotrila. Do you read?" He waited and hoped they could respond

“Commander,” Patton said to her, “get down to Main Engineering and see if you can see what happened and why we’re having such critical failures all over the ship. I’m sure the Chief could use some help, and I’m by no means an engineer.” Kate snapped out of her hunt for Stanton and gave a quick glare at Patton. Under her breath she mumbled, ‘I know what I’m doing…’ Then in her mind she continued, ‘Unlike you…’ Then back under her breath, ‘hide here…’ Patton continued “Shields are down, weapons off-line, and our structural integrity is compromised… And we have no sensors; so we’re blind.” He looked back up at Kate “Have the Chief get our structural integrity under control first, then shields and deflectors. We don’t have to worry about fighting if we collapse in on ourselves.”
Before Kate left the Command Deck and looked back not towards Patton but Jessica. If this feline creature was anything like her. Jessica should be able to get Kate’s telepathic message, ‘Watch him! And report any mistakes but don’t take any action towards him. I will not allow a ‘boy’ take command on his own.’ She left for the Engineering deck leaving the 'last' of the Grant Legacy on the bridge. As she was just to enter the turbo lift that was now enabled, she turn about and walked over to Jessica. Kate shoved the medical officer a side and snatched a hyospray from a med kit and stuffed it horizontally in Jessica’s mouth, “Bite down love…” Kate simply pulled the shrapnel from Jessica’s ankle then quickly cupped the wound with her hand. Heat began to emit from her and a bioarmor slowly folded out covering her right arm and hand. The heat subsided and a glow enveloped between Kate’s bioarmor hand and Jessica’s ankle.
Kate quickly stood and headed down the turbo lift. She said or gave nothing towards Jessica no concern or feeling, nothing but that she healed Jessica of her wound. As if nothing had harmed her in the first place. She arrived in Main Engineering it looked worst then the Command Deck. “Chief? Where are you lad!?” As she said knowing that she was a great deal older then him but he wouldn’t have known that. “We need to get full power back online and…” She then taps her combadge, “…get the structural integrity back under control. Yep, I know that ‘you’ know this lad but give me our options? Do you need more power? Do you need a jump start? What? Speak to me ginger…”

Haemis rammed the relay slide back into the wall of the Jefferies tube junction, he had just finished running some scans and determined which ones were damaged and confirmed that a power surge was indeed what fried the or at least damaged the relays. He managed to replace one of the really bad ones, at least they would have power knowing that they were compromised but not down fully. With some care they could use them until they got replaced.
He turned and started to reach for the ladder when his Comm Badge went off and sent waves of pain through his head once again. “Chief where are you lad.” He was about to respond when she kept on talking, it was like nails on a chalk board at the moment sending waves of color through his now shut eyes. “We need to get full power back online.” He was about to say something again when she started talking again. “… get the structural integrity back under control. Yup, I know that ‘you’ know this lad but give me our options? Do you need more power? Do you need a jump start? Speak to me ginger…”
“Bloody ell!” he groaned slapping a hand on the bulkhead. “Nay! I donnah need yer bloody power or a jump. I need bloody time!” he started climbing up the ladder stopping only long enough to open the hatch between levels. “I’m near one of the SIF generators now I’ll go check it out.” He continued climbing. “Once I’ve had a chance to survey what’s going on I’ll get back to you. Right now it’s one thing at a time! I’ll get with me assistant and have him dispatch repair teams. It wasn’t this bloody bad when I left engineering to come check this out!” He stopped climbing briefly as he came to another door. “For the moment I would just suggest shunting power from any non-essential systems into where we need it until we can get the power issues under control.” He hit the button opening the junction and nearly lost his footing as a familiar face came out of nowhere to greet him.
“Chief!”
“Bloody ell!” he nearly loses his footing on the rungs.
“Off for the night Irish?” the dark skinned man called smiling down at him from above.
“Jackson. Bloody ell. Are ya trying to give me a blasted heart infarction?” He glared up at the man and held up a hand. “I’m on it Kate, I’ll try and get ya status report as soon as I can!” he reached up and hit his comm badge shutting it down. “Now what the bloody ell are ye do’n here?” He reached up and took the man’s hand and came up out of the ladder way into the next deck up and another junction.
The young man shrugged, “Just trying to help with repairs Chief.” He reached down and closed the hatch between decks and nodded. “A bit of a mess we've got.”
“Aye, Mr. Jackson. That we have!” he collected himself pulling his uniform straight ala the Picard Maneuver. “I’m off the SIF generator down the way!” he gestured as he moved toward the hatch.
“I’m heading the other way to work on the ODN Junction that’s blown, might have something to do with your SIF Generator giving ya problems.” He opened the hatch opposite of him. “Perhaps I’ll see ya later Irish?”
He turned to see the man disappearing through the hatchway after what felt like a very long moment. “Oie! I told ya to stop bloody calling me that!” he yelled at the man. He knew full well with the hatch closed he couldn't hear him but he didn't really care. He turned to start heading down the corridor toward the Structural Integrity field Generator but stopped long enough to re-seat an open junction hatch.

Location: Sotrila’s Bridge
As the Crew began to shake of the initial ‘shock’ from the damage, everyone began attending to their duties. Sgt. Mjr. Grant continued to try and coordinate things, but there wasn’t much that could be done by him at this particular moment.
“I’m a simple combat soldier, not a ship’s Captain…” he said under his breath… Likely louder then he intended, but still softly. “Dad was the Officer…”. He slammed a fist down onto the Tactical Console, and walked towards the center of The Bridge. Those alive and movable were doing so, and were beginning to move the bodies of those that were dead out of the way, so that systems could be checked and repaired. Medical personnel, and other crewmen, were moving the wounded out of the way and out of the bridge as quickly and as much as possible.
Patton was very much out of place, this was not what he was trained for. Trench warfare, Alien invasions, storming opposing ships… He knew and could do all of that. But command a Starship… That wasn’t his thing, and he felt uncomfortable. While he didn’t second thing his decisions, often, he wondered if he should have left Commander Photan on The Bridge instead of himself… But, what would he have done then? He’s not an engineer, and his system knowledge outside of tactical related systems is very limited.
While he was lost in thought, and waiting for any updates, he thought he heard a communication trying to break through the damaged system. "U****....S Thun***... to USS So**ila.... D*... you **ad?" Was there another ship present, he wasn’t sure what the situation was, or really the details before the accident.
He attempted to open communications... as spotty as they were.

Madalyn was not prepared for what she was met with when she came through the doors to sickbay, it was an absolute madhouse. There were patients just streaming in with all manner of wounds and injuries. She waded into the room looking for one of the doctors or nurses eventually bumping into one. “Need a hand?” she asked pushing her way to one of the biobeds.
“Absolutely!“ her hurried voice called over the constant moans and crying patients. The head nurse whom Madalyn recognized looked up. “Hello councilor, are you medically certified?”
She nodded to the doctor, “It’s in my file.” She said grabbing a tricorder from a nearby table and looked back to the nurse. “Where should I start?”
The nurse regarded her a moment and gestured with her head toward an unattended bed. “Triage!” she muttered going back to work on the crewman on her biobed.
Madalyn moved through the room opening the tricorder as she moved coming to stand next to the man lying unconscious on the bed. She began to scan him, she recognized him as she glanced over the readings at the man’s face. Despite the knot on his head she recognized him, she had held counseling sessions with this man before back on the Starbase before being asked to do this job. “Ryan,” she muttered as she grabbed a hypo spray from one of the tray’s. “You’re going to be alright!” She knew he was already sedated but she knew he might be able to hear and it might help calm his vitals which were spiking all over the place. She pressed the device to his neck and provided the right amount of depressant while watching his readings.
“Who are you!” a voice caught her off guard pulling her attention. “Oh, Ms. Price what are you doing here.” She shifted to look at the person addressing her.
“Helping of course, I am trained fo…”
“I know I just didn’t recognize you!” the young man said, he turned and started to move off. “Thank you councilor!” he said as he disappeared into the crowds.
She turned back and saw that her patients vitals were still somewhat high but stabilizing. “Alright Mr. Jackson, I’ll be back to check on you soon!” she began to move away.
Ryan’s eyes slowly came open and followed the woman for only a moment before they closed once more.

As Jessica watched the confused medical tech try and figure out how to remove the metal fragment from her ankle, Jessica heard Grant handing out order as to what Kate should do. A glance over to Kate, Jessica would see the reminisce of the glare Kate threw the Major's way. Kate was not happy, obviously, and neither was she, especially with this young med tech
Jessica sent her own glare to the young med tech "That metal piece is not part of my ankle, so if you would pull.. " She broke off from telling the tech to pull the sodding thing out when Kate's thoughts had entered her mind. Jessica looked up toward Kate, who moved toward the Turbo Lift, and met the commander's piercing gaze. Jessica gave a nod, telling Kate that she understood then sent a thought back ~ Understood. If he is anything like fath.. Admiral Two Dawns has spoken of the Elder Grant, the "boy" needs command like I need this metal shrapnel in my ankle. Should he endanger the ship more, I should take some action ~ Jessica attempted to add humor to her serious thought-comment.
Kate then surprised her, and the med tech, just as Jessica responded to Kate, Kate came over grabbed a hypo, shoving the med tech aside in the process, sticking it horizontally into her mouth, telling her to bite down. She bit down, wondering what Kate was about to do, which she didn't have to wait long. Kate took hold of the metal shrapnel, Jessica bit down harder, nearly biting through the hypo, before the pain was suddenly gone, replaced by a warm feeling she couldn't place. Opening her eyes, she then saw where the heat was coming from. She watched as her ankle practically heal itself with Kate's heat and bio armor.
Suddenly, the heat was gone and so was Kate, disappearing into a turbo lift. She pondered the thought, briefly, of thanking the commander for repairing her ankle but then she doubted she would want her thanks or gratitude. She shook her head and spat out the hypo into her hand, then offered the hypo to the med tech, who stared at the hypo and her ankle slack-jawed. "Pull your dull wits together and tend to the other wounded" She ordered the tech, then looked up at Grant, standing a couple feet away at Tactical as he muttered that he was a simple combat soldier, not a ship's captain. Another good reason you should not be in command, Jessica thought as he started getting to her feet then heard that "Dad was the officer" before a fist came down on the tactical console. Not a very good one, if the stories I've heard are true, she thought with a dead-panned expression. Even though, she is only a Lieutenant, she is confident that she could out command either Grant on a good day.
She was pondering how to get started with repairs to Tactical when a garbles transmission came in. Her ears perked, eyes widened as she listened to the bits and pieces that came through. She felt a sense of relief when she realized who was attempting to get through. "Father" She muttered before walking over to stand beside Grant as he attempted to clean up the garble. "That sounds like Admiral Two Dawns, Major. He and Thunder seem to have made it through the phenomena that we have passed through" She commented, reading the confusion on the Major's face, as if wondering if that attempted communication is real or imagined.

With the assistance of the injured, but moving, Lieutenant, Patton and her worked to clean up the sketchy communication. After a few attempts, the message came in clear enough to not only be heard, but to be able to respond.
Sgt. Maj. Grant tried to not let his emotions take hold, as he was aware of ‘Admiral’ Grabfoot, he and his father weren’t the best of friends. Also, for the time being and much to his regret, Admiral Grabfoot was the ONLY surviving member of the CRV Admiralty and Command Structure that escaped the explosion; as far as everyone was aware. Not exactly Patton’s friend, or the person he’d want to run into. However, duty was duty. “This is acting Captain Patton Grant. Can you advise your status and situation?”
While working that communication, Patton also activated his combadge “Grant to Phontan, any updates?”
Patton shook off the Medic when she tried to address some of his wounds, but he wasn’t hurt that bad. “Damnit, not now Tali. If we’re set here, get to Sickbay and help out. I’m sure they’re swamped down there too… Unfortunately…” She nodded, after giving a disapproving grunt, and then went about her grizzly business.

The static was still in the line, especially when he tried to send any communication. That would be a problem if who he had attempted to communicate to him was unable to hear him. Grumbling to himself, he continued to try and clean up the static
As he was about to make another attempt at contacting the Sotrila, his communication board lit up, indicating a response or at least an incoming hail. Hope flared but then died just as quickly. Acting Captain Grant?! Samuel? No, that can't be right. Grant senior had been killed in the CRV Star base explosion. It had been his luck that he had been the only survivor of the disaster. Luck? He wasn't sure if that was it or not. Perhaps his affiliation with that woman so long ago that allowed him to survive all this time.
Bring his mind back to the present, he focused now on the contact from the Sotrila, more importantly the "acting Captain", who happened to be the son of the now deceased senior Grant. He hoped that junior would be better at command then his father but in the back of his mind, he doubted it. "Indeed, I can advice my status and situation, Captain" He said in response, sounding a bit irritable but he didn't care at the moment "My status is that I am alive and survived what we encountered. My situation is that I am dead in the water, as you humans term the phrase. My ship's systems are completely down, save for communications and life support. Navigational systems are.." performs a quick status check "..down to bare minimum. If I were to dock with Sotrila, I would count that as lucky." He paused as Grant spoke again, but not to him, but to another person. His ears perked as he heard the name Phontan. That woman is over there.. and in a position of command?! If that is the case, he is surprised that the Sotrila is still in one piece.
Briefly, he wondered if he would need to take command of the Sotrila, at least until such time as they knew where they were and can get everyone back to the nearest star base, which reminds him of another ship he once knew. He hoped it wouldn't come to that. He would hate to have to deal with another Grant and then, naturally, have to deal with the likes of that woman.
